I think I am ready to try again after 2 miscarriages. I have read alot about baby aspirin online and was wondering if anyone has tried it or have any advice to offer on the subject. My dr. does not want me to take it, but I just feel like that will offer me some more hope.

Hi Keepingthefaith,

After my chemical pregnancy early november I started taking it. bought it from the chemist 75mg, my gyn was happy for me to continue with it.

Hi

I started taking it when we started ttc after miscarriage #2. I spoke to my GP who said not to bother with it just yet but I decided that I would give it a try.

I stopped taking it at 12 weeks. I think if you continue using past this you need to inform your midwife/GP as they need to be aware (aspirin can cause more bleeding).

Hope this helps

That is weird i have been wondering about that to , i am gonna wait until i get my bfp then ask my dr , from what i have read it may not help but if it cant harm either then it has to be worth a go. I know you do have to bee careful if you are taking certain medicines or have certain conditions.
did your dr give you a reason for saying no?

The aspirin is suppose to help with what?

its supposed to help if you have sticky blood cos it stops oxygen getting to the placenta. Well thats what i understand anyway.

I'm interested in the response from this too. Obviously anything to possibly help is better than nothing.

i stick by what i always say.. if you feel you need it go see your dr because you should never take it and not tell the dr.. it may cause problems.. theres no proven fact it acctually does any good.

hello all, i have had 2 m/c and the nurses at the epu said that next time you get pregnant we will put you on 75mg of baby asprin, so i spoke to my doctor about it and he said that theres no reason why i couldnt start taking it now, and that it wouldnt do any harm, so i have been taking 1 a day for a few weeks now, all he said was that it may make you have a off stomach and heavier periods, but i have been great, i hope it does help as where trying again now, so fingers crossed xxx Goodluck to you all

I think i might wait for another BFP and really push my dr. to give me reasons why i should and shouldn't give this a try. I just don't want to go through this again....

I'll keep you all posted.

I have been for my appointment at the hospital regarding m/c's.

I did ask the doctor about baby asprin, she told off the records take it, but as there is no real evidence, she cant say yes for the records. (although her thoughts were that it could help me)

So I have been taking 1 a day, I have had my first AF and it wasnt heavy at all, just the same as normal.

Hope this helps

i started taking BA after 1st mmc, i was taking it while ttc and ive carried on and im now 14wk5day pg !!! u can take it till 35wk but ur doc must know, wether its helped with pg or not it helps with other dieases....cancer/heartattack etc :)

Hi there, I posted this a while back but thought I may add here as well....

I don't have a history of mc (this is my first pg), however, my obstetrician reccommended I take a very low dose aspirin as soon as I found out i was pregnant. She said that it can generally help prevent blood clots and mc. Like others here have noted - I don't necessarily know of any proof of that - I think her general stance is it may help and doesn't do any harm....

just a note to add if you actually have hughs syndrome (sticky blood) clexane injections are much more effective than the asprin esp past 12 weeks..

i have to take a daily shot of clexane until delivery..

I am planning on talking to my doctor about taking baby aspirin next time.

Sorry for all your losses :hugs: I've had 2 mcs and was told to take aspirin as soon as i get my :bfp: and i'm now 34 weeks pregnant. Not sure if the aspirin did the trick or not but my doctor said it does no harm :hugs:

Aspirin is an anticoagulant, it thins the blood. That's why it's recommended to people who have a history of heart disease or strokes in their family or who have risk factors themselves.

Until finding this site i had no idea that it was sometimes used in early pregnancy, but i suppose it makes sense. I have read that sometimes a cause of mc can be clotting disorders, or mum's blood being too thick, so this would be why some women are recommended to take a low dose aspirin daily during pregnancy.

I am very interested myself, having recently suffered an early mc, as to whether it makes a real difference...but i wouldn't recommend anyone to take it without double checking with a doctor because there are side effects, as with all medication. The two main ones being, obviously risk of not being able to stop bleeding (due to the blood being thinner) and also if you have any existing stomach conditions aspirin can exacerbate them. If you think it will help you though or are keen to try then it seems worth asking about- i know i will be doing!

Hope that helps.

Im currently preg after fourth mc, the gyne put me on baby aspirin 2 weeks ago. He told me that he's not sure if it would help and to take it till i give birth and made me promise not to miss a dose. A friend of mine was prescribed baby aspirin straight after she had her 3rd mc.

Im hoping this is helping.

xxx
