Hi,

Since my Lo was 6 months old i have cooked all his meals from scratch and freeze them. He has a variety in his diet (i follow the Anabel Karmel books) i had to buy a jar of food the other day when i was out and about, the Hipp organic range and he loved it. I have never seen him enjoy his food so much!!!. I am now seriously considering using the jars instead as they work out the same price anyway and he seems to enjoy them more.
Just wanted to know if anyone used the Hipp range? as I'm worried that there will be some hidden sugars and salts somewhere in the food.
Thanks. x

I used a cauliflower cheese one and it made me wanna vomit lol was rank!!!! If I use jars I use ellas kitchen but they are way more expensive but as it's nit often I don't mind.

I realise this is quite unhelpful sorry x

There won't be hidden sugars and salts in the food as the laws are very strict. I did used to use hipp with a couple of my kids because of the allergies in the family; I didn't want to make a whole batch of one type of vegetable or fruit only to find they were allergic to it; so first of all I used to use their single variety jars, the same one over the course of a day or two, just to check there wasn't anything my kids were allergic to. The only thing with jar foods is; that jarring/canning foods does cause a slight loss of some water soluble vitamins; i.e. vitamin C; they do add it back in usually, in the form of ascorbic acid but its better to get vitamins from their original, natural source. I'd personally continue cooking from scratch and maybe use the jars only occasionally.

Omar likes their fruit pots. I didnt offer him any savoury jars as I tried some but he hated them all.

I use a mix of heinz, hipp, cow and gate and ella's kitchen. She only likes certain foods so I had to experiment alot with all varieties etc.

She loves fruit pots and the baby yoghurts and the Blueberry and Apple desert. I don't think they would have any hidden naughties in them....and my daughter is fine on jars!

When I move into my own place in a few weeks I will experiment with making my own foods for her but until then jars it is. x

Jars are fine, some babies have just them all the time. Perhaps homemade is preferential but jars if you buy ones with no added salt/sugar will be ok. In my opinion it's like the breast milk vs formula debate. One is preferential but the other is not dangerous or poison!!!!
