Maley had her 6 week check today (she is now 8lbs 11 - Yay!!) Anyway because of her sickness, the doctor gave me cow and gate carobel which the doctor said will thicken the milk so it stays down in her belly. If this doesn't work she will give me gaviscon. Has anyone used it before? Did it help?

oh ive never heard of it hun but didnt want to read and run, clara used to be very sicky and i put her on aptimal it worked great

We use this with aptimal and expressed breast milk. We have gaviscon too, but I prefer the carobel. Its worked really well for him.

Its a real nuisance to use, but you get used to it. You can't add it until just before you use the bottle as it continues to thicken. Also, you need variable flow teats. We use dr brown bottles and got teats specially for thicker milks.

We use one scoop of carabel per one ounze milk, and thats fine for Ben.

At first I took the bottle out with me but I got terrible looks from people (I am sure they thought I was adding baby rice!) so now I measure it into a tub for taking out.

Any more questions, let me know!

I've never heard of it we have Gaviscon but we did use the thicker formula on cow & gate (stage 2) and I think the end result was that and night milk (which is thick) was harder for her to take. I wouldn't go with a thicker formula again.

Sorry not much help

I used it for 15 months with Joe :hissy: messy stuff, have no idea whether it helped, maybe a little bit; definitely better with it than without it but Joe had very severe reflux. It got everywhere though and the bottles were a nightmare to wash :dohh:

I hope it helps hun xx
