DH and I are soon going to be travelling to Israel. There's a long tradition of individuals placing notes for God into the crevices of the Western Wall. Jewish belief is that, since the wall is the last remaining remnant of the temple, it's one of the holiest places one can pray. As I mentioned, it's customary for people to squeeze tiny notes with their hopes, dreams and prayers written on them for God to read, into crevices in the wall.

If anyone would like to email me a note, I promise not to read it, and I will simply print it, fold the paper and slip it into the wall. I can't guarantee that I won't see a word or two, but given the private nature of such letters, I promise to do my best to just print them quickly and not read them!

Please let me know if this interests you. I'll be adding a note of my own. Gee....I wonder what I'll ask for...

PS. Your notes don't necessarily have to ask for anything. Giving thanks and general chatter is also pretty typical

What a sweet and kind gesture.
I did try to send you an email from the email in your profile, but you must have the box that allows members to send emails disabled - so i'm afraid I can't send one....Would you rather I just pm it to you?

Yes...definitely PM them to me!

Oh....for those of you who will be writing letters to God for the first time, LOL, lemme just give you some guidelines:

1) God doesn't need you to sign your name or explain "I'm Jane from 256 Cherry Tree Lane". He knows.

2) Write whatever you want, however you want. Don't worry about how to address God. The first time I did this, I went through 15 drafts of "Dear God" and "Hey there" and "To Whom it May Concern"....

I should also warn you that this is obviously not a guarantee...I think the last time I went, I included a plea to "please let me lose weight, so I can finally have a nice, skinny body". I'm pleased to say that, while I DID graduate university with honors, and while I DID marry a REALLY wonderful guy, I'm still kinda fat.
Oh well. You win some, you lose some, right?

Yes...definitely PM them to me!

It's a very sweet gesture that you're doing xxxxxx :hugs:

That's so sweet of you, for doing this for us.
I will pm you, thanks in the name of everyone

thank you! i send you my message in french it'is a little more easy for me:)
hope you have a wonderful trip!

Just to let you all know, I'm receiving all your personal messages. I'll be amassing them and printing them soon.
And, again, I won't read them....even if I wanted to, something feels SO wrong about "peeking" at a conversation between someone else and God.
;)

I've just sent you a PM. Thanks so so much for doing this. Last time I went, I was about 12, although my message couldn't have been very important, as I don't remember what I wrote!

I already sent you a pm with my prayer, thank you so much for what you're doing, have a good trip

PM sent, with many thanks! What a wonderful idea, you're incredibly thoughtful to do this for us.

I''ve just sent you a PM. Thank you hunny for this really thoughtful gesture.

Wanted to let you all know that I've printed out all your prayers in TINY font and rolled them up into tiny balls that will be squished into the wall amongst millions of other letters.
There's still time to send me your prayers, if you want! Send away!

Thank you so much for this, it's a lovely thing to share. I have pm'd you too. I think mine might end up going through my Mum as I have a feeling she's looking over me at the moment. Well, always really. :laugh2:
