Anyone with / know about low antral follicle count?

As some of you know, I'm due to start IVF in August and had an early ultrasound and turns out I only have 7 (4 on one side, 3 on the other). The experts at CARE, where I'm due to have IVF, said it's not the reason for us not being able to conceive in the past 3 years (and won't affect IVF) but it's the only abnormal result we've had so surely it's the reason? Surely it's odd that I only have 7 when the average is 12 or above?!

Can anyone shed any light on this? Has anyone gone on to conceive without IVF with a low AFC?

I had an antral follicle count of 8 and an AMH of 6.11 (tests taken a year ago). I fell pregnant naturally after 23 cycles TTC while waiting to start IVF. No other problems were ever identified, apart from a slightly short LP, so I think it definitely slowed things down for us. Best of luck with the IVF xx

Hi Trix, I had 4 on one side and about 8 on the other. During my cycle I produce about 11 follies but only about 6 grew to the proper size in time and I got 6 eggs. I think you may just get a higher medication?

Hi Trix, I recently found I have an AMH of 7.27 which should mean 7 follicles. We are about to go through IVF in June / July so I'll know more than. I have also been diagnosed with endo but there's no 'main' reason for infertility so who knows? I have been put on a higher dose of drugs in the hope that they'll get as many eggs as they can but in reality we are looking at under 10. Fingers crossed.
