Hi Girls,

Looking for a bit of advice! I was told last week that I have some small cysts on my ovaries, but the Dr told me it was very mild and she wasn't concerned about it, although she said it does explain my irregular periods. She told me not to go away worrying I had some major condition because I am at the very low end of the spectrum...

However... I came home and googled pcos (of course) and saw lots about insulin resistance. I suffer quite often from low blood sugar, and it has been particularly bad this cycle as I have ovulated for the first time in a while.

Is it likely there is some connection? When I had my appt with my consultant I said I was fit and healthy (as I am) but just didnt even think about this.

I am also a bit concerned as she told me not to worry about having pcos but it obviously does affect me as I have been ttc for over 18 months now, have slightly irregular cycles and dont always ovulate, so obviously it does affect me!

Sorry for the long post, just looking for some thoughts or advice! Thanks!

I don't know if its a coincidence or not about the sugar issue, however, I was just very recently diagnosed with PCOS after ultrasounds and blood work. My sugar had been running very low, ranging from 42 (near passing out) to 71. No matter what I did, I just could not get it to rise above 71 for more than a few minutes before bottoming out again. My Ob/gyn diagnosed PCOS even without current cysts(have had some in past requiring surgery & removal of part of right fallopian tube) based on the blood work and past history of cysts. I would see if she would check ur FSH, LH, free & total testosterone levels, c-peptide, DHEA and insulin.....those should help confirm or refute PCOS diagnosis. make sure ur fasting 12 hours( nothing but water) though as i have had the test done many times only fasting 8 hours and there was only very minimal deficiencies & surpluses.....the 12 hour fasting really helped show what what going on with my body. Best wishes to you on your journey, and hope you are able to find out the answers you are looking for :)

Did sherecommend metforim. It's key . I bet it gets u ovulating.

Hi there, I've just been diagnosed with mild pcos too; have had irregular periods for years, with periods of time when I don't ovulate at all! Has never bothered me though, it's just nice to know why I don't have 28 day cycles like I'm supposed to!

Interesting about the low blood sugar, I've always wondered if I have that cause I get really shaky if I don't eat regularly!!!

Yeah I feel the same, my periods are a bit irregular but seem to have settled down the last 3 cycles and I ovulated this month where I didnt for the 2 before that.

Hoping the Clomid works and if not I will mention about the blood sugar thing!
