I would like to talk to someone who is in the same position of me. Who has pcos and doesn't get there period or ovulate on their own at all. I mean it has completely stopped.. And what did your dr. do to get you to ovulate?

I am in the same boat but at the min the dr hasnt prescribed anything  I am using vits etc to help regulate things!!

xx

I rarely get my period and don't ovulate. Does that count?? They usually give provera to induce a cycle if it's been over 3 months. I did injectables with an IUI to get DD and IVF for DS. No luck yet for #3. :(

I have pcos and have not had a period since april and before that it was December!! I was prescribed provera back in july and took 5 days worth and no af. Went back to Dr and they were not very helpful so decided to go private. Saw the fs 2 weeks ago and she again prescribed me provera but 5mg 3 times a day for 5 days and again I am still waiting and really dont think its going to happen. She said she will put me on clomid once af arrives but I am getting so furstrated with it all as dont think I am going to get af at all. Not sure if thats any help at all but its a similar situation and I dont ovulate at all as I do opks everyday. xx

Thanks ladies for the replys.

I've justs been needing to talk to someone with pcos who doesn't ovulate on their own or get their period on their own at all.. And see what works for them. I havn't been able to find one person tho that does and have found something that works.

Right now I've been using provera to induce af and tried clomid 50mg this cycle an it seems to be that clomid at 50 didn't work for me this cycle. And the dr. wants to put me on 50mg one more time to see if it will work one more time. Then he'll up the dose. And I feel like it's a waste of time and that it's not going to work!

I don't ovulate and take Prometrium every couple months to induce AF. But, since starting Metformin (1700mg per day) I have been ovulating, though it is very late. This cycle I ovulated on CD43. Not great, but better than not ovulating at all!

The first time I started on Metformin it took about 2 or 2.5 months, and I ovulated. As far as I know, this is the first time I have ovulated in years. I can easily go 6-9 months without a period. On my very first ovulation I got pregnant. I had an MC at 10 weeks. I had a lot of issues afterwards and couldn't start back on Metformin for almost 2 months. I started Metformin on CD1 of this cycle (my first proper cycle after MC) and on CD43 I ovulated (confirmed by blood test, Progesterone level of 33). So it's definitely doing something for me. If I am not pregnant by November, my FS will have me start Clomid on top of the Metformin to try to get an earlier ovulation.

I know Metformin doesn't work for everyone, but it's working for me.

Good luck Ann, I know you've been through a lot. Are you taking just the Clomid? Or Clomid and Metformin together? I don't know why but my FS says that they work better together.

I dont normally get AF or ovulate but since stopping the pill and using agnus castus i have ovulated and had AF last month.

Thanks. When I went to my appointment my dr. gave me three choices. It was either try birth control pills for three months.. try provera each month.. or try provera with clomid .. and of course I chose the last choice. And I mentioned metformin to him and it seemed as tho if I wanted to try that also he would let me. But since the dr. didn't mention it.. I decided to just go with clomid. But maybe I need to ask if he could also try me on metformin. Thanks! :flower:

Good luck. My FS recommended I do Metformin for 3 months, then start on Clomid because Metformin alone works for a lot of women.

I hope your doctor lets you give it a go. I mean it's worth a try! And the pills are pretty inexpensive compared to other things. It costs me $24 for a one month supply and most of that is covered by extended medical, so it only ends up being a few dollars a month. Totally worth it in my opinion!

That's what everyone told me about metformin on here. So I swore my dr. would put me on metformin and then maybe clomid. And I was surprised when he said We'll just do clomid. I guess next time I talk to him I should mention metformin.

I didnt have af for 9 months, but with AC I got it back, still no ovulation yet tho... but im hopeful!!

I tried AC for a few months and it didn't do anythig for me :(

I was just telling my friend how I have literally only had 4 periods that I can remember since Nov 2007 ( I was also pregnant and nursing for 2 of these years though). Since my HB and I are now TTC #2, my OB put me on Provera to induce a period and then Clomid to induce ovulation. I have PCOS and never ever have had a regular cycle. Usually I would only have 3 or maybe 4 (on a good year) periods a year since I was 11 years old.

The good news is that even though I rarely ovulate on my own, I had no problem having carrying a healthy pregnancy to term, even though my OB had concerns about the 'quality' of my ovulation when I first became pregnant (which was actually a happy accidnet).

I would go see your OB/DR about getting on Clomid if you are TCC sooner than later : )

Best of luck!

I've just done my first clomid cycle. And it didn't work. on 50mg. The dr. will be doing one more cycle of 50mg and then he'll up the dose.

I have PCOS. I stopped BCP in February and didn't have AF until July when doctor prescribed Provera. I'm on my 2nd cycle on CD11 waiting to O. I'm taking Femara to induce O. (My full story is in my journal on the front page, I didn't want to write it all on here. I've wrote quite a bit.)

I was diagnosed with pcos a few weeks ago off blood results, im not insulin resistant and dont have pco. The endocrinologist has put me on 1000mg of metformin a day to try and lower testosterone. She also said metformin plus clomid can work better together with pcos. she wants me on it till the start of next year then clomid, but i see her again at the start of november and I hope she will just start the clomid then.
I did try agnus cactus and dang gui and peony and it didnt help me at all. Good luck i hope this round you ovulate xo
