Anyone with PCOS who doesn't ovulate or get af on own AT ALL?

I was diagnosed with pcos a few weeks ago off blood results, im not insulin resistant and dont have pco. The endocrinologist has put me on 1000mg of metformin a day to try and lower testosterone. She also said metformin plus clomid can work better together with pcos. she wants me on it till the start of next year then clomid, but i see her again at the start of november and I hope she will just start the clomid then.
I did try agnus cactus and dang gui and peony and it didnt help me at all. Good luck i hope this round you ovulate xo

Has you figured anything out yet that has helped you to ovulate? Or are you still not ovulating with metformin?

I think I'll do this one more cycle of 50mg clomid.. And then when it doesn't work.. (because I bet it won't...) I'll ask if he can also put me on metformin with the upper dose of clomid.

im only a few weeks into metformin now, and it took me a few extra days to get on the full dose because it as making me feel sick. but hope i do ovulate on it withoutt he clomid because apparently clomid has worse side effects. But im also kind of pushing for the clomid because if its going to work it should in the next few months s if it doesnt then i want the clomid now lol.
i could have ovulated last week but im not sure as i have no idea what it feels like LOL. And i stopped using opk's on cd 25, and it would have been somewhere between cd35 and 37 and im now on cd 43. but really i probably didnt and am just driving myself mad with any cramp twinge or break out!

You should check into Femara for ovulation. It's safer than Clomid with less side effects to induce ovulation. Some research I found states that it is also working better than Clomid to induce ovulation in women with PCOS.

Also, I don't know what type of insurance you have but Clomid isn't covered for me at all. Femara (letrozole) is only $4 a month though if you have a WalMart that does the $4 prescriptions.

Lol, I know how you feel. From all the good things I've been hearing about metformin I'm thinking more and more about asking for it. Thanks for the info :)

I dont feel sick on it anymore, i realised i wasnt drinking enough water. Now i drink several glasses a day and dont feel sick at all. I take it half way through my meal because it can put a bad taste in your mouth if you have it after and make you a bit sickly if i have it before the meal. My SIL has pcos and concieved within 4 month of metformin (unfortunately ectopic) after nearly a year of trying, and then fell pregnant againt he cycle after with my Niece

I don't ovulate and take Prometrium every couple months to induce AF. But, since starting Metformin (1700mg per day) I have been ovulating, though it is very late. This cycle I ovulated on CD43. Not great, but better than not ovulating at all!

The first time I started on Metformin it took about 2 or 2.5 months, and I ovulated. As far as I know, this is the first time I have ovulated in years. I can easily go 6-9 months without a period. On my very first ovulation I got pregnant. I had an MC at 10 weeks. I had a lot of issues afterwards and couldn't start back on Metformin for almost 2 months. I started Metformin on CD1 of this cycle (my first proper cycle after MC) and on CD43 I ovulated (confirmed by blood test, Progesterone level of 33). So it's definitely doing something for me. If I am not pregnant by November, my FS will have me start Clomid on top of the Metformin to try to get an earlier ovulation.

I know Metformin doesn't work for everyone, but it's working for me.

Good luck Ann, I know you've been through a lot. Are you taking just the Clomid? Or Clomid and Metformin together? I don't know why but my FS says that they work better together.

Okay...so I tested today at 13dpo (CD56). As I mentioned this is my first cycle back on Metformin and the only 1 other time I ovulated (on Metformin) I got pg. Well....I got a very dark BFP.

I can't believe Metformin has done it for me again.

Good luck ladies! And I hope you give the Met a try and it works for you!

SOOO happy for you ceejie!!! I hope it's a sticky bean!! Congrats! :)

Thank you so much. I am in total shock right now. I swear I owe it all to the Metformin.

I really hope you find something that works for you soon!!!

congrats!

my doc did blood tests for pcos and said I didn't have it. I honestly don't believe her because something has to be up.,I finally got my period after 80 days. I'm taking fertilaid and if no bfp by January or December then I'm going to a different doctor. I may even go November.

Yay! I really hope it works for you!! I swear it has worked miracles for me. And don't get discouraged if you feel a little sick at the beginning, because that will pass...

I'm so excited for you!

I will say, you getting your bfp pushed me to call and ask for it :)

And congrats to you again!

If you do not tolerate Clomid well ... just know there is always a fall back plan!

I have PCOS and have never ovulated on my own. I got pregnant using Femara and injectables twice! :)

Good luck :)
