Applied for a teaching assistant job and the hours are 8.30 till lunchtime then 1hr after lunch so I'm guessing till 2pm ish? Monday - Friday. I would be absolutely over the moon if I got it but I'm already fretting about being away from the girls!

I would still get afternoons with them which will be great but is everyday away from them too much?

Belle stars preschool in January which is when the job starts so she will be having fun anyway. Not sure what to do about childcare for the hr after lunch, oh mum will have them morning till 12ish.

Anyone doing something similar? How do you find it?

I doubt ill get the job haha but I worry a lot unnecessarily lol x

I work monday-friday term time only in a pre-school - i have always worked with children and went back to work after my first born was a year old and after my youngest daughter was born i was back at work and she was only 12 weeks old - i only worked two mornings then and my husband looked after my youngest and my eldest was at school - now my youngest is at preschool i work 3 mornings a week (sometimes more if covering holiday/sickness) 8:45-1pm and then i work in the afternoons from 2:45-6pm currently 3 afternoons a week this will be going up to 4 afternoons soon. when i work both mornings and afternoons on the same day which happens twice a week im at work from 8:45-6 with an hour and half ish lunch - I LOVE my job(s) and i am very lucky to be able to work with and around my daughters always being able to drop them off to school and pick them up and be with them during term times and THE MONEY IS GREAT! I need to be organised with housework and fitting in taking the dog out for walks etc but i actually manage briliantly its all slot into place.

GOOD LUCK I HOPE YOU GET THE JOB!!!! - i may look in to teacher assistant jobs when my youngest goes to school x

Thank you so much for reply x that's the good thing too it's term time :) I wouldn't be able to take Belle to preschool though but can pick her up x closing date for job is tomorrow so fingers crossed :) x

I work mon-fri 7.30-1.30 and its fine tbh. I feel like I still spend loads of time with them :)

I work Monday - Thursday 8 - 4/5 and 8-12.30 Friday.

My LO loves nursery so that helps. It's really about making the most of the time you have. Me and DH plan activities for a Saturday and then have a quieter day together on a Sunday.

Evenings after work can be quite hard as she is usually over tired and we only have a couple of hours. We bath her every night because it always cheers her up.

I've borrowed my sisters matra of "Quality not quantity time"

loving the 'quality not quantity time' matra x

lets us know if you get the job x

I am at university doing a masters and my course is pretty full on and I have to do outside study in the libary as I can't concentrate properly at home and my Mum doesn't understand that if I come home there is a possibility I want to study and will leave so I have to entertain Ava and she will only play by herself/watch TV for so long and it makes me feel awful.

I am in university 10-3 Monday- Wednesday and then 12-5 Thursday and Friday. Obviously not all lecture time but some of it is time I spend in the library.

I run a small sewing business from home too but I make sure that I don't do any work until she is in bed because when I get home I make sure that we get quality time together to play etc. I get a couple of hours with her each day and if im honest I don't feel like im missing out.

Also its great being away in the day because she gets to spend lots of time with her grandparents and also my sisters and her cousins so she gets to socialize with a whole host of people.

I've just started working 9am-1pm Monday to Friday and I don't think it's too much time away at all. When I applied for the position it was supposed to be 40hrs so this seems so little
I'm just making sure his Dad has him weekdays too so we can spend some time together when I'm off.

Good luck! :D

Wow, I'll swap my hours for yours!

I can work anything from 7am to 10pm or later some days, depending on what I've got on - obviously this will have to change once my little one arrives but ill still be putting in some hefty hours at times, my OH may end up being a stay at home dad (he doesn't mind, he already does all the cooking!)

Good luck, I hope you get the job!
