I am recently single and 6 weeks pregnant. I am currently in rented accommodation and am contracted to be here until a month before my baby is due in May 10. I am in the middle of a separation arrangement and waiting for my ex to buy me out. When this comes thru, I will probably have approx £25,000 to put down as a deposit.

I plan to try and buy my own small house once the baby has arrived (as i cant do before hand with the tenancy arrangement in force) but i am abit worried that the mortgage brokers wont give me a mortgage because i am a single mum and on maternity pay.

has any one got any advice ? come across anything like this before.

Best person to speak to is a financial adviser - they should be able to tell you info about it in detail for free over the phone.

Were you in full time employment and earning money when not on maternity? Are you going to go back to that job?

I could be wrong but surely they will only ask you if you have a job and what your salary is? Being on maternity is just a temporary measure so you mightn't even need to declare it..

Hiya! I work in a bank, cant speak for all banks but if it were mine, you would certainly be able to apply whilst on mat leave, you can borrow 4.25 your gross salary (this will be taken from your week 52 payslip or p60) obviously you would have to declare that you would be going back to work after mat leave, hope this helps x x x
