I'm going to apply for a job ive just seen in the paper, a clothes shop is advertising for temp, casual and xmas staff. It says just to send your CV in but i will also write a covering letter as im pregnant and want them to know this from the start. Do i just say that im 15 weeks pregnant and am available to work up until 36 weeks and work out the date and pop it down too?

Don't mention your pregnant until they offer the job, only then would you be able to prove they never gave you the job because you were expecting. Up until that point they could make up any excuse for not giving it to you.

Hey, I applied for a job around 14 weeks ish and didn't mention it, I got an interview and mentioned it then, still didn't say how many weeks I was though and I wasn't really showing. - plus they cant ask you anything i.e. how many weeks are you as its classed as discrimination. In my eyes I was still honest and I got the job!!

However because of the type of job and paperwork needed I havent actually started yet, start 20th of this month so will only be there for 9 weeks! Ha. But I was available to start months ago so its their problem really. I'm sure you wont have those issues though.

In all honesty I wouldnt send a covering letter its just an excuse for them to ignore your CV. At interview you can wow them and then they know they can't ignore you because of your LO. Pregnant working woman have so many rights these days! x

I agree with the others, I wouldn't mention you're pg in the application. But if you want to, then bring it up in the interview and say that you could work until [date] and understand its a temp job, it would be perfic for your circumstances etc .. GL x

Hey, i wouldnt mention you are pregnant until interview stage, this is what i did with sainsburys. i was honest and told them i was 23 pregnants and i didnt think i would get the job. But i did!!! even though i cant work for them for long until next year.

I had a similar situation, was advised by my HR Manager not to say anything if I wanted the job. Smiler29 was really lucky but most places will not be like that so be careful. I actually got a job too and I'm starting on Monday, they don't know anything yet. When I went for the interview I was about 5 weeks anyway.
good luck to you!

I understand this but I was further on than you and if I started the job and then told them I was pregnant it would look very suss that I'd only just found out if you get me. If I'd have been 5 weeks like you I'd have done the same though - good plan. I start mine at 28 weeks so I think they might guess anyway hehe :haha: x
