Hey ladies ! x We've been trying to conceive for quite a while now and the doctor's believe I may have PCOS.
So I finally got referred to the gynecologist on the 24th Oct after waiting an agonising 5 months for some news, we had a basic chat about my cycles, if I had conceived before, my weight, how many times we have intercourse etc; then she explained I would have to go for a HSG after new year. she gave me a couple of bottles to have blood taken the next time I have my period. When the time came, I went to have blood taken from the local nurse and recieved a letter from the hospital about a week or two after. They are referring me to the Assisted Conception Unit at Glasgow's Royal Infirmary. I'm quite nervous because I don't know what to expect :nope:  I was hoping there were perhaps ladies on here who have been or are going through the same thing so they can shed some light for me as to what to expect xx Also my appointment is on the 9th of this month, my cycle is due on the 7th, will this affect my appointment in anyway ? thank you so much xx ! :hugs:

hello maybe baby:flower:

i dont have any experience of going to the asisted conception unit, but to me it seems unfair that they didnt have an appointment with you to explain the results before hand... just so your not left hanging...

good luck :hugs:

My husband and I began pre-IVF consultations earlier this year at the Lister in London, and essentially, the first appointment for us was my OH's semen sample, looking at my blood work and scans (there is a whole list of blood work which is taken on days 1, 2 OR 3 and day 21 of your cycle, such as thyroid, blood count, AMH (egg count), etc; also I had a vaginal scan of my uterus and tubes to show all clear) which was done the month before, and discussing options. I was advised to lose a little more weight (I had lost weight from a BMI of 40 to BMI of 31, and they wanted me to be under 30 before starting IVF proper). I would ring them and/or download their materials so you have a better idea of what the appointment specific for you might be (e.g. what is the GP forwarding to them?)....

in the end, it was realised by my GP that I had an underactive thyroid and the month after she increased my medication, I got pregnant naturally!

best wishes

congratulations on your natural bfp sabrinakat :)

can i ask when they told you to loose a little more weight (im in a simalar situation i have lost weight bringing my bmi down from 40 to 31) did they put you on the waiting list at the same time or did you have to loose weight before they would put you on the list?

i hope you are well andenjoying your pregnancy :flower:
