We'll dd is 4 months old now and has suffered with constipation since having formula milk, she's on aptamil comfort which helped to begin with and now she seems a lot worse, she's been on this milk for about a month and half now and I'm at my wits end, I give her prune juice which does help but I'm finding that I'm giving it her often she's had lactaluse of the dr which tbf I think is crap, shall I put her back on stage one aptamil or try a different brand I've used cow and gate with her and tbf it's what got her in this mess

My middle son had this, being fine on comfort milk at first but then it making him severely constipated, and much later on developed quite a severe dairy allergy which he still has (he is six). He was already allergic to soya at that point but at the time the cow and gate comfort was soya free whereas now I think the aptamil one is. So could be an intolerance or allergy as comfort milk causing constipation is very unusual xx

I've had her tested for milk allergy and it came bk fine so I'm confused as well

I told my daughter to the doctors at 3 or 4 weeks because she wasn't constipated. She's just screamed and strained for hours on end, and can go a couple of days without bm, and has done since she was born. Doctor said to put her on richer milk (which Aptamil is)
But when I phoned the health visitor, she said that richer milk would make her constipated.
She's 5 weeks and has been on Cow & Gate Comfort for about 4 weeks. And even though it's not cured her straining problem, it's helped it better than first stage milk.

We'll I've put her on 1st stage milk again and I'm starting to wean her onto solids I'll be doing my own foods for her so plenty of veg to help her out, I weaned dd1 at this age as she was a mega hungry baby but I never had a problem with bowl movement but with dd2 I'm hitting a brick wall, and tbf she just drunk a bottle of the first stage better than she does with comfort I don't think she was keen on comfort

Try cow and gate comfort milk. Worked a treat with both my children I used it right up until 1 year old

She was on that first and it didnt help at all hun

The only formula Caoimhe hasn't been constipated on is SMA reflux milk. She started off on Aptamil but it wasn't filling her and she started to throw up what she did have so the doc said to try the comfort milk. We tried Aptamil, C&G and SMA comfort but they just 'clogged her up' something cronic. Eventually we were advised to try the reflux milk and this is the only one she can have that lets her go on a regular basis. Xx

Hey hon I am sorry to hear that =( My LO would be constipated on all the formula's we tried, even the milk protein free one's (which he needed because the other formula's caused colic).

Alas my LO stayed constipated until he started on solids =( The only milk that didn't cause him to have constipation Gerber Good Start, though we didn't get a chance to use it for more than two weeks. At the time we started it he was constipated and after the first bottle he pooped and yellowy-seedy, unlike the previous hard green stools. Sadly they stopped selling them after =(

I would definitely recommend trying out that brand if you can find it, I think it has special components that can help with digestions.
