Hi Girls :flower:

Just wondering who is using the Aptamil Comfort for their LO's ,why & how they are finding it? :baby:

I have just moved onto it from aptamil 1st because my Health Visitor believes my LO is suffering from 'silent relux'

So far, it is helping, which is a major plus....
She still isnt 100% but better than she was, at least she can now drink (most) bottles without fuss :baby:

The downsides I have found are:
You cant buy it in ready made cartons (have emailed the company to ask why they dont make them)
The milk & water seperates when a bottle is stored in the fridge (again, am waiting a reply from the company about this)

Kelly I use it as Ava has colic and I'm pretty sure silent reflux too and I've noticed a big difference. She still fussed at feeds once or twice a day but it's better than every feed and she's sick about once a day.

I've not noticed the separating in the fridge tbh but I always give it a really good shake before and after warming it up. It does separate after a few hours being left on the side though (bottles she's not finished up in case anyone thinks I'm feeding her these lol).

Do you use boiling water to make up the feeds? I do and it mixes better then I leave to cool on the side before putting in the back of the fridge x

Oh yeah, the water has to be very hot coz otherwise the milk looks gritty and doesnt mix properly x

ive been leaving kettle to cool for half an hour, as it says on box

but still confused as to whats best?

hey hon, i wait 30 mins before I make mine too then I cool in cold water for about 10 mins and put in fridge x

Hi hun. I changed Chloe onto Aptamil comfort 2.5 weeks ago and it is a godsend!!! We had so much trouble with silent reflux and her constipation was horrendous. She was only pooing once every 8 days. The difference in her when we changed was almost immediate. She still has slight trouble with the reflux but nowhere near as bad as before, and her bouts of stomach cramps are a lot less now. She also poos every other day, and its that regular its always between 2.30pm and 3.30pm! The screams when she strains have completly gone and all we get now is her grunting and looking us right in the eye as she does it! :haha:

Definatly gets my reccomendation, she is so much happier now

xx

can i just ask what silent reflux is?

We switched LO from SMA Gold to Aptamil because of her poos. We've been on normal aptamil and the poos are better but she seems more sicky. Would comfort help that? I notice they don't have a stay down formula with aptamil.

Ava was more sick on Aptamil comfort - I think cos its quite thick it just wasnt settling well in her tummy and she was having runny poos everytime. I was worried about dehydration so changed her back and her poo is normal again x

my LO is just on normal aptamil. She was taking 5oz of SMA and ive done the same with the aptamil, but she sicks a lot up. Maybe she needs less I have no idea.

Hi , I put my LO on hungry milk last wed at 5 nd half weeks old , He seems a bit restless on it at the mo and I feel I am having to get used to his 'patterns' again . He slept through ten hours last night from 8.00pm till half 6 this morn , I tried to wake him at 1.00am last night but he was having none of it . He does seem sleepier than normal on it so Im going to give it to the end of the week and then may put him back on first milk and up the oz's. What does everyone think ? xx

Aliyah started off on SMA gold and that caused lots of problems along with bad constipation.
I switched her to Aptamil comfort milk and it worked wonders. If anything made her poo's very runny and regular! She loves the milk too x

I had Ollie on comfort then switched to SMA Lactose Free for colic, whilst it helped his colic dramatically it also gave him very bad botty wind and cramps so have switched back to the comfort with Colief in it.

We are using Aptimil comfort for Ava-Mae as we think she has silent reflux too. We were also given gaviscon by the Dr for her. It makes the milk a bit thick as comfort milk is thicker anyway.

I think she has been better on it, although she is constipated, but I think that is because of the gaviscon (I was hoping that the comfort formula might help this but it hasn't!)

I sometimes make it up with cooled water. If I'm going out I would rather take the water and powder seperately and mix while out rather than take a bottle already made especially if I wont have access to a fridge. I haven't really noticed a difference in the mixing but I do notice that it seperates.

xx

Well, I thought I would change my LO back to aptamil first...After the careline said that comfort was really only for colic & constipation & she didnt know why HV had recommended it

She went back to square one & was in pain .....Lesson learnt ~ If it aint broke, dont try & fix it :winkwink:

hi
i was having the same problem with the aptamil comfort milk it keeps separating if i leave it sitting for a bit. Was just wondering if you heard back from them and if thry gave you a reason to why this was happenning?

Thanks

My little man has been on comfort for about 3 months now and I won't be going back to 1st milk. He was on SMA, was screaming after every fee, constipated and has reflux too. The HV didn't believe me and it took me crying in the docs with him, while covered in his sick and him screaming for them to believe me! We haven't looked back since! He is soo much more comfy, has regular but runny poo's (huggies don't hold em in ;) ) and is thriving on it!

I make mine up with water that has been boiled for about half hour but my kettle keeps water realy hot so have to be careful as boiling hot water can make the bottles disintergrate! I then leave em in cold water for about ten mins before going into the back of the fridge. Mine seperate too but I just thought it was one of the ingredients that will make it seperate (a bit like oil and water/vinegar).

It annoys me that you can't get the ready made cartons too, I went to Madrid for the weekend the other week and bought the C&G 1st which he didn't seem to be too bad on, I did notice a difference but thought it would have been worse if I had used the powder with their water!

I would put her back on to Comfort hun, 1st obviously doesn't agree with her. :flower: x

Izzie had colic so we moved onto aptamil comfort and it has been a godsend. I make her bottles with boiling water then pop them into a thermal bag and she drinks them straight from the bag x x

Thanks Girls :flower:

She has been back on comfort for a while now  Wouldnt try & change again

The company said the seperation is perfectly safe, its just the ingredients ~ give it a good shake before use
