Hi there,

My mw has advised me to top up Dylan's feeds with formula as he is not getting enough breast milk and suggested we use Aptamil. We have followed the instructions on the box so far i.e. boiling a kettle and leaving it for half and hour but this is very time consuming especially for the night feeds. Our mw did say that some people follow a different procedure even though it is not recommended. Can I ask how other Aptamil users prepar their feeds? I'm pretty sure I will be brave enough to leave the house soon but have no idea what to do about feeds. Many thanks.

Hannah

I would suggest visiting the breastfeeding section to see if they can help with the milk supply!

The only reason you have to leave the water to cool is to not destroy the bottles I think??

I premake my bottles in a batch or 4 or so -

Sterilise bottles
Boil kettle, leave to cool for 5min
Add required water to bottles
Add formula to bottles
Add teats/lids and shake
Cool quickly in a pan of cold water
Put in back of fridge
Take out when needed and pop in bottle warmer or run under tap to warm

i premake my bottles as my LO screams if i dont feed her quick enough. dont feel guity about premaking aot of people do it plus its far easier if you are wanting to go out somewhere

I premake, sterilise, boiling water, powder, shake well, cool in a sink full of cold water and straight in the fridge and use within 24 hours and reheat in the microwave.
