hey,

I was advised this morning to swap Harrison to aptimal comfort instead of using aptimal 1. My health visitor suggested it as i mentioned we are really struggling to get his wind up especially at night, we have tried everything.

The problem i have now is he is being sick about an 1/2 hour - hour after a feed of it, granted he has only had 2 and maybe its just coincidence but its got me thinking maybe he shouldnt be on it? he was the same with the normal cow&gate formula in the hospital, every feed resulted in him being sick, this is the first time its happened since swapping from cow&gate, we havent had any sick whilst using aptimal 1 .

anyone else had the same problem? im tempted to put him back to the normal aptimal as im worried he will be sick in the night whislt im asleep and he chokes or something, he struggled just when being sick.

Hey honey, we also had sickness but on aptamil 1 so we swopped to aptamil hungry baby as he was taking 4 oz at 1 week old every 2-3 hours!
We also had a problem getting his wind up, but touch wood since swopping, we've had had next to no sickness and we've been told by the H/v to give him a little cooled boiled water each day which seems to be helping get up his wind.
I didnt even consider aptamil comfort, sorry i cant be of more help :( xxx

hey thanks!

we already use infacol and the cooled boiled water, aswel as massaging his tummy a little and cycling his legs.

to be honest it seemed odd to put him on the comfort one, he doesnt have constipation at all since swapping to aptimal 1 and its not colic he has at the mo, just really struggling to settle him at night, i thought it was because he was hungry. From around 9pm he will go every 2 hours wanting 2-3oz each time, this goes on till about 3am in the morning where he just wont settle and is constantly trying to eat his hand. told all this to the HV and she said about the comfort version... in the day he burps a bit easier and goes 3-4 hours between having feeds of 3oz.

its all confused me! i didnt have any problems with sophie at all, except she needed hungry baby sma.

That sounds about the same as my LO was, kept chewing his hand all the time and wanting feeds every 2 hours, hes much better since i changed him to hungry baby :)

what's the difference between the regular stuff and hungry baby? It sounds like you are both describing Reagan to the letter! she gets very unsettled in the evening and is forver chewing her hand! She does sleep though from midnight to about 5am at the moment....but wants food every 2 hours during the day. I'm only topping up with formula though so not sure that switching would make a big difference or not...she doesn't seem to wind very well though with the aptimil 1 bottle. Sorry for hijacking just curious thanks!!!

if i remember right hungry baby is slightly thicker or has something else in it to fill the babies up? correct me if im wrong!

well last night i decided to goto bed not to give him the comfort stuff as i knew i would not be able to sleep as i would be paranoid he would be sick and he wasnt sick at all, had his last feed at 11 and didnt wake till 4:30am for his next. its been every 4 hours since having between 2-3ozs, right now it seems like is hungry again after only 2 hours, going mental for his hands and gumming my shoulder to death lol he has been rather fussy today aswel

the HV seemed dead against hungry baby but was pushing the comfort as it was thicker. im slightly confused as to what to do.

My hv was dead against the hungry baby too, but as i said to her, its worth a try i know its better for me but its up to you honey xx
