I have been told fomula fed babies should be having 1 or 2 ounces of water daily, or some like to do after each feed, i just want to ask.....
My son is on aptimal comfort becuase he suffered with bad constipation, however he doesnt seem to have it any more and i am a bit unsure if i should let him try the aptimil 1 formula so i have left him taking the aptimil comfort which he seems ok on first of all is it bad if he remains on the comfort milk even though he no longer suffers with constipation..??

And second of all whilst he is on the aptimal comfort would i need to be giving him water...?? I gave him water a few days ago and his poo was really runny i wasnt sure if the water went straight through him as the comfort already makes his poos really soft, i have given him 1oz of water about 2 hours ago and he seems ok

thank you inadvance..x

Formula fed babies don't need water either.
Only if it is very hot or when they are being weaned.

As for your first Q.Aliyah has been on Aptamil comfort milk since she was about 2 months old and she is now 5 months.
I asked this same Q and most people said if LO is happy on the milk they are on then why change it?That's up to you though. I am considering it too x

You only need to offer extra water if there is a reason. If LO actually had constipation now, then that would be one reason, as would hot weather, illness putting him off feeds, or when you start weaning. If none of these things are the case, there is no need.

With regard to switching him back to 'normal' formula, I'd say that if it's suiting him, leave him as he is. I left Dylan on comfort until he started having poos that were wetter than usual, but not actual diarrhoea if that makes sense? He was around 5 months then, and I switched straight to hungry baby formula.

If you decide to try a switch at the stage you're at, I'd suggest gonig back to stage 1, and be prepared to offer extra water if he needs it.

We stayed on Comfort formula until around 4 months I think, and then switched to number 1 again. If your LO is happy on comfort I would probably leave him a while longer, then switch when you feel he will no longer get constipation.

Also I only started to give my LO water once we were weaning. Now she has water with her solid meals.. but milk has everything they need at your LOs age x

My lo was on comfort untill today im sick off the dirty nappies leaking everywhere and giving him nappy rash with me wiping him (he as a dirty nappy every fed) so i tryed him on cow and gate (working so well) will give it to the end of the week to see but so far so good
