Hi Im 35 w 2 days today with my first pregnancy and i have arcuate uterus with no septum (confirmed by hystersalpingography) so the OB assured me that when theres no septum theres no risk for MC or PTL. However i found contradictry information on this matter.
Any of you in the same boat ( arcuate "heart shaped" uterus but with no divisions inside)?? How far did you go with your pregnancie/s??

TIA

Nora

Um, I have no idea but didn't want to read n run. Hope someone else can answer your question :)

I have an arcuate uterus as well.. (diagnosed by my HSG).
Arcuate is the mildest form of uterine abnormality. If it had a septum or was split you'd have a different name for it.

My fertility specialist said that it was nothing to worry about (I was having trouble getting pregnant). He even said that the HSG is not a totally conclusive diagnosis, that they'd have to do an MRI (if I'm remembering correctly) to tell for sure. Sometimes, the angle of the uterus during the HSG could make it LOOK like there is a dip at the top when its really just the angle of viewing.

Everything I researched said that it wasn't an issue at all. I found ONE online forum where a guy said his wife went into labor too early and they lost the baby (under 25 weeks) and the doctor said it was because the arcuate shape of her uterus left too little room for the baby as it grew. I don't know if that is really the reason or if its just the one possible guess they have for something that happens to other women without reason.

I DO know that I'm 38 weeks along and measuring at 42 weeks in size, lol... so having enough room for this baby is NOT an issue for me despite the shape they saw on my HSG.

Hope that helps! If you're already at 35weeks then I wouldn't worry at all!

Hi Everyone,

Not sure if there is anyone around from this thread, but Ive been told I have an arcuate uterus too. Would love to hear if you have anymore stories about your pregnancy or birth that you felt related to having an arcuate uterus.

Thanks,

hey there, i was diagnosed by USG that i too has an arcuate uterus yesterday, have not conceived yet. lpots of worries these days, how are you now?

Hi,

No -I haven't. But my partner has been told that his sperm count is 'low' after having had chemo as a kid...we r investigating his sperm whilst also getting blood tests to text my progesterone...

Hope you have some luck soon x

i too have an arcuate uterus and has not conceived yet. i am 29 and have no idea whatsoever of any problems, feel my future is a big question mark!

Melanieanne77: I have also been diagnosed with an arcuate uterus and my husband has low sperm count (about 3 mil). We were told IVF would be our best shot because his sperm levels are too low for even intrauterine insemination. We haven't been back to the fertility specialist in a few years because I'm just not ready to go through IVF. I'm 31 and we've been trying for a few years. I'd be curious to see what your dr tells you. I don't know if mine was just quick to jump to recommending IVF...

I have an Arcuate uterus also! I am 38 +3 weeks pregnant and it has caused absolutely no issues with my pregnancy! They discovered it on my very first ultrasound and the doctor said I had a 10-15% chance of delivering a month early but that never happened, here I am at 38 weeks with a full term baby and the whole time she has had plenty of room in there. I would not worry at all if you have this!

Hi

I also have a uterine abnormality, altho unsure which one! My first diagnosis was bicornuate then not bicornuate but septated then no septum but arcuate! I'm 11 weeks pregnant and quite concerned for the next coming months on pregnancy. My main fear is that the 2nd diagnosis of septum was the correct one, it was diagnosed by the most trustworthy way, laproscopy, where arcuate diagnosis was made by mri which I'm not happy with at all.

Anyone have a septum? And be okay?

Lisa x

My friend has a bicornuate uterus. She had a healthy pregnancy (apart from some unrelated bleeding at the start) and went into labour and had a normal delivery and healthy baby at around 39 weeks.

like i stated in the other post i also have an arcuate uterus and My baby was born 3 days late & healthy! Just an update :)

Hi I've just been told I have a arcuate uterus, after giving birth prematurely to my daughter 6 months ago, even though my daughter and myself were fine she had to be delivered by c section, my question is we never wanted our daughter to be an only child, we would like another child in the future, has anyone been able to carry a second child to term?
