Are darkening HCG test lines always a good sign?

Hey ladies! So, naturally, I've been a little worried about a miscarriage since I found out I'm pregnant on the 13th. This is my first pregnancy with no history of anything wrong except irregular cycles.

I'm quite sure I ovulated late in my cycle, so while I'm 6+3 according to my LMP, I'm probably measuring more like 4 to 5 weeks.

Anyway, my main symptoms are very sore boobs, mild to moderate cramps off and on throughout the day, fatigue, occasional waves of very mild nausea, and I'm more weepy than normal.

I've taken a few pregnancy tests since I found out just to see how the lines progress, and they are getting darker.

My question is, is it ALWAYS a good sign to have these symptoms and progressively darker lines or does it even make a difference and I still need to consider miscarriage as a possibility? Perhaps I just need help putting my mind at ease; I just don't know.

It comforts me to see the lines grow darker. They did in my last pregnancy and she's now two :haha:

I suppose it's always something you should know *might* happen but in reality the chances are slim, so try and enjoy it.

:hugs:

I've had both a chemical and a MMC. With my MMC, the lines got darker as they did when I was pregnant with my son, but I did have some spotting at about 12dpo when I had my MMC. With my chemical, I tested at 10DPO and got a clear but faint line on a FRER but they never really got darker and then started to fade when I started spotting/bleeding so I personally think that's a good sign it isn't a chemical but it's definitely no guarantee of not miscarrying. It's so scary isn't it! I hate all this not knowing xxx

Im also in the same boat as you right now. I got my BFP on the 12th. I havent had any pregnancy symptoms really but my line has been getting darker. It was the same colour at the control line at 14dpo. I am hoping this is a good sign!

It is a good sign its not a chemical but it's not a good way to judge mc, with my first loss last year my tests got progressively darker and stayed dark, I lost the baby at 12 weeks, with my blighted ovum, where there is a sac but no baby the same happened with the tests and I got positive tests after I miscarried for 17 long weeks. The signs to look out for are bleeding and contraction like pains but you can also have these AND have a healthy baby. I know how worrying it is, especially when I've had two losses but I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine. I still tested this pregnancy til the lines wouldn't go any darker, I think it's still a comfort anyway, happy and healthy 9 months to you:) xxxxxx
