Hi girls, I am suffering terribly with indigestion/heartburn. So far I've managed without anything more than a glass of milk to ease it but thats not working anymore. Anyone know if I can have the occasional Rennie soft chew? Thanks in advance x
rennie's fine nd so is gaviscon.
the companies that make heartburn medication know pregnant women suffer so make it so its ok to use durin pregnancy.
xx
Rennies Soft Chews are completely safe in pregnancy - I've had terrible heartburn throughout my whole pregnancy so use loads of these - I keep packets of them all over the place! Also Gaviscon works very well and if you're in the UK you should be able to get this free on prescription from your doc/midwife.
Rennies actually state on the pack that they are for heartburn in pregnancy, they are fine...I have had every type of rennie going I think! Also Gaviscon is allowed and you can get it prescribed, I got the advance one but it does bugger all, infact makes it worse. Doctor said she can prescribe me something stronger so I'm going to see the doc again.
Hi, I have lived on low dose ranitadine and gaviscon for the last three months (now 36w and 5d)-all okayed by the midwife, gp and obstetrician. Bio/natural plain yogurt can help-keep away from fizzy, spicy and acidic foods. I would wake up at three in the morning after inhaling acid that had risen up to my throat-i share your pain!
Zantac is ranitadine. The dose you can buy in the store is 75mg. I am taking it morning and night as agreed by gp, obst', MW, etc. It is actually a much lower dose than you would take normally for gastric reflux. Dont buy Zantac-it costs almost three times as much as Boots, Superdrug, Tescos own Ranitadine 75mg. Zantac is just a brand name but is actually ranitadine (look at the ingredients list).
Sorry to go on, but being a nurse it makes me mad when all these branded names cost so much. EG, Nurofen £3 or more a pack is just Ibuprofen at £0.16p a pack from Tescos, etc.
