My Evie is six weeks old - dosent really have any awake time during the day apart from when she wants feeding or is windy and uncomfortable is this normal ?

My LO was 6 weeks yest and some days she goes without hardly any sleep and is awake and alert for most of the day then other days ur lucky if shes awake for 2 hours through out the whole day. However I do find if she has a sleepy day she settles well at night but if she has an active and alert day then its difficult to get her to settle and shes awake several time a night :(:(

I spoke to my HV about it today and she says sleepy days are natural and they can be like that for up2 3 months, I asked because i was worried when my LO goes from one extreme to another but she says i just have a really active baby for her age thats why some days shes awake for hours and hours.

My bub was always sleeping at 6wks as well, even now at almost 10wks she still sleeps alot during the day. it's normal hun! :)

Gabbi is mixed.

This last week, her awake times between 7am and 7pm have been:
6 h
4 1/4 h
7 1/4 h
4 1/2 h
2 1/2 h
6 1/2 h
5 1/4 h
Today, so far, as I can hear her whingeing again, 7 am - 3.30pm is 2 1/2 h

I am trying to get her to have on average 3 1/2 - 4 hours, hoping that she will sleep better during the night, but that doesn't always work. If she's hungry, even if she's tried she wakes, if she has a wet nappy, she wakes!

Gabbi is now just over 2 months old.

Yep i am on a sleepy day today (Leo asleep over my shoulder!) and weirdly he sleeps better at night too!

Yes, I always used to think that if a baby slept a lot through the day, they wouldn't sleep that night but one of the midwives in hospital told me that wasn't the case and do you know what...she's right. Poppy sometimes sleeps for what feels like all day barr two or three hours and then she will still sleep her normal amount during the evening. x

Phew this is such a relief as I was getting so stressed when he was sleeping all day! I have a book (Your Baby Week by Week) it says, for 7 week olds " sleeps more at night than day aim for 3 hours of naptime in the day"!! Well whatever!

three hours only!? Throw that book out!! At that age Hannah slept a lot during the day, and slept really well at night. Even now (at 4 months) she's only awake an hour to an hour and a half most of the time before taking a 45 minute nap (once in a while she'll stay up a couple of hours but that's rare).

Yep Tegan is 3 and a half months and she is still sleeping a lot.
