Really struggling to come up with boys names this time - we prefer older sounding names, and want something that's not too common but not too bizarre either. I like names like Archie, Noah, Eli, Henry, Fred etc but they seem to be getting quite common now as the list of boys names is pretty limited really.

Me and DH were looking at names last night and came across Arlo (which I've heard before but forgot about). I can't decide if it's a bit 'trendy' though, and that our families might be a bit mean about it? What do you think to the name Arlo, and do you think it goes well with Seth and Elsie?

I think it goes well.

Have you considered Emmett? Arthur? Heston?

Love Arlo, also Eli from your list and Milo as one to consider?

Arlo does seem trendy to me. I automatically think of Marlow(e).

I love Arlo! I think it goes well with your childrens' names too x

Thanks, I *think* I really like it!! I like Milo but already know a baby called that.

Any middle name suggestions to go with it? I'm thinking something quite short.

I would go for something a bit more traditional. I like James but that's a very common middle name! I don't think it necessarily needs to be short as Arlo is a short name. Arlo Benjamin, Arlo Oliver, Arlo Charles, Arlo William?

I think it's cute! I like the initials AJ together... so I suggest:

Arlo John
Arlo James
Arlo Jenson
Arlo Jude <--- Love this one!

I like Arlo for a boy. Another old sounding name I'd suggest is Ezra. I loved it but DH hated it.

I used to like Ezra, and my DH loves it, but now it just reminds me of the old guy from Ray Donovan!

I should've said that our surname is 3 syllables which is why I prefer a shorter first and middle name (with the exception of Alexander but I thought with Seth being only 1 syllable it went well)

DH also really likes the name Jude so Arlo Jude could be good.

I quite like the idea of an L name as then initials would be ALF!

I like initial nicknames. My friend is LAM and that's what she gets called!

I have an Arlo James. We wanted something a bit unusual but not too much!

I love Arlo, in fact we would have it if my husband loved it as much as me but we know someone with Arlow as a surname so he is put off. We are settled mutually on Harrison, nice strong boys name

I love Arlo! I knew one as a kid and then we ended up going to the same high school so for me it's not trendy seeming. Everyone at school loved his name too, haha, and he seemed really fond of it. And you never forgot it.

I love Arlo Jude!

I'm really liking Arlo William, William was DH's paternal grandfather who passed away when he was 14/15. Although now I've got myself thinking it could be 'the one' DH has decided he's not that keen! Aargh, men!
