I have heard that taking arnica tablets after c-section or even natural birth can help encourage healing, reduce swelling and helps with the feeling of exhaustion.

Has anyone previously taken these? Do you think they helped? Or anyone planning on taking them?

I have c-section booked for next week (thurs!) and I am wondering whether or not to get some.

Any thoughts welcome :flower: xx

would be interested to hear replies too. never heard about it before.

(how you doing purple??xxxx)

I've heard of it but from what I understand it's only to help with bruising, makes the bruise go away faster. Other than that, I have no info on it.

Personally, I wouldn't take it. Never know about allergies and having an allergic reaction right after a c-section doesn't sound like a good time to me!

arnica is a natuemedy which u can buy in health shops or your local chemist. i took them after my c section and they helped with the bruising, it seemed to go away within a couple of days so i would deffo reccomend them. i will be buying them again for when i have my 2nd section in september.
i bought mine from my local boots store they were only about £3 too xxx

I've bought some arnica tablets to take after the birth, whether its a c section or vaginal delivery. It is meant to really reduce healing time, aswell as bruising. I got mine from holland and barrett and they're 30c tablets. It explains on the side how many to take and for how long. I think every little helps! x

Thanks ladies! I think I might get some from holland and barret tomorrow. Im going to have to stay in hospital accomodation or b&b after being discharged as our LO has to stay in for 1-2 weeks at a hospital away from our home, so anything that can help me feel a bit better quicker sounds good to me!

E&L: Im doing okay, didn't sleep very well last night though, think the nerves might be starting to kick in - only 4 days to go! xx

Just to bump this thread...I've packed these in my hospital bag to help with healing etc!!

My DH a fanatical sports player swears by the tablets and the cream!!

im planning on taking them from when labour starts im sure they helped with my healing the last 2 times the MW's were suprised how quickly my stiches healed and swelling went down

For the UK ladies I can highly recommend this company:

https://www.ainsworths.com/

If you call their London branch you can speak to a specialist who will recommend for you. I called for info about Arnica but she discussed with me a special remedy for surgery (C Section) which has the Arnica and other things (can't remember but know it included Calendula).

They were not overly expensive either.

I've also ordered Arnica gel for my scar.

Hey ladies

I swear by them, have taken them for horse riding accidents to aid bruising, major stomach surgery and my first c-section they are amazing I am getting my section in the next 1.5wks so have already started to take them... :) Got them in Boots

Xxx

These sound really good. I shall go in to town next week and get them as I am having a section on 1st :)

Thanks ladies

Just to update.....these really did help after my section & they are fine if breast feeding xx

Yes Arnica treats bruising. You need Arnica 200c pillules and I would also recommend hypericum and calendula for healing tears/C-section wounds. Again 200c strength.

Is there anyone that has taken these in Australia? I've never heard of them & am wondering whether to ask my OB about them!
