Eli William born 18 October @3.55pm.
I had to be at the hospital at 7.45 the morning of the 17th. I felt very nerous asI knew once the gel was inserted there was no going back or going home.
8.45 MW inserted gel, I was 2cm and cervix was soft, head in correct position. So I was advised after an hour I was to walk the floors so I done this till 3.15pm where I was examinded and still 2cm but cervix was thinning.
Contractions started very very mild throughout the day, then at 7pm I requested to get in the pool as it may helpa little with the contractions, It was ok in the pool but it was quite shallow so I couldnt get comfortable, was in there for maybe an hour contracting every 4-5minutes lasting 30-40seconds. They gave me two panadol and a sleeping pill, which done nothing but made me feel lousy and tired ut Icouldnt sleep through the contractions.
By about 9pm MW, OH and his mum went home until something more was happening, Mum stayed with me. @ 2.15am between 3-4cm I was given G&A (that stuff is great, I wanted to take it home with me, but after a few hours it wasnt helping with the pain. The contractions moved to my back, goodness me!!! Mum was pretty much beating my back to help with the pain lol, I found swaying and standing helped with these.
4.15am I requested an epidural as things were just getting too much, I'm sure I have the crappest pain tolerance. 4.45 am the epidural was inserted after she explained all the risks to me while I was contracting I had no idea what she was saying I just agreed to whatever it was she had said. Once this cameintoeffect I was chucked onto the hormone drip which they cranked right up, baby wasn't coping well with this so they eased it down.
8.25am the specialist came to see me she was really great. She gave me a VA and sad head is present 5cm and fully effaced(sp) cervix moulding.
1.00pm My epidural started to wear on one side by this time I was 9cm and getting slammed with contraction, G&A was given back to me until the Dr came and topped my epi RIGHT up. I couldnt lift either leg after he put it in. as the hormone drip was on the go. Babys HB started dropping during every contraction he wasn't coping, I could see the worry on MW's face so she called someone in, but tried to let it not get to me. By this time I was exhausted I hadn't slept since the monday morning.
2.25pm I was fully dialated, when cheack LO has turned to prosterior/transverse position which was not good, he wastrying to come out on the back left hand side of his skull. Got told 3pm I would start pushing. I started getting the majory shakes from the epi and the fear of pushing although I was numb from the waist down.
3pm - Pushing began, I couldn't feel so Itried my best the pushes where really good apparently lol 25minutes after pushing MW called for assistance (specialist), all of sudden it went from me OH and 2 MW's to awhole room full of people. Baby was not doing good at all he was tired and stressing.
3.45 Specialist prepaired for forceps assistance to get him out quick. She inserted them after giving me an episiotomy, she was rotating him inside me, my whole body was like a rag doll as she done it. after his head was out, she sadi give me one more push to get his body out, the feeling of his body coming out is just crazy, I think I made a stupid noise as it happened LOL Like a relieif.
So along with the episiotomy I got a second degree tear on the other side. Eli was place on my tummy while they stitched me up with skin on skin OH cut his cord and cleaned him up with a towel. As much as a private person I was before labour that has now all gone out the window.
You can see where he was trying to come out by the lump. it is slowly going down.
