Asking for a second sweep day before induction? *Update request denied!*

I had a sweep on Friday by a consultant and lost a bit of plug.. had some BHs but it hasn't come to anything else.

I am due to be induced tomorrow and I am starting to dread it.

A friend of my mine has just suggested that I call up my midwife unit and ask if they can squeeze me in for a second sweep today as the midwives are apparently a lot better at having a good rummage around than the consultants (her words, not mine).

Her sister did this and started contractions an hour later.. so I am currently trying to get through to my midwife unit to see if they will do this for me. (line is currently engaged).

Please wish me luck ladies, I'm hoping they don't say no, or that they are fully booked!!

I had one last monday, nothing happened so on my midwife app last friday she was going to do it again for me but she rang labour ward to check if it was ok and they said you have to wait at least 7 days between sweeps. So im going back today for my 2nd!
I know how you feel hun, my induction is booked for friday - but im really hoping i start on my own! x

Nope No go ladies!

She gave some policy and regulation stuff about not being about to do a second one because of the risk of introducing bacteria into the womb...

Also because I am techinically down as having thyroid issues (an operation over 5 years ago with no need for medication) and asthma (although not used my inhaler in over 6 months!) she gave that as a reason not to do more. I would have thought that a sweep was actually lower risk for me than all the drugs they are gonna pump into me at induction though.. but que cera cera.

Oh well... here's hoping nature kicks in, in a big way today for me!

I thought about asking for second sweep but a friend told me she was refused aswell so I haven't bothered. I am booked in to be induced on Thurs and I think thats what gonna end up happening as I don't think I'm gonna be having him anytime soon. So your are not alone.

Thank you, it is such a shame though as I am so sure a second sweep would work.

Nevermind, I can wait until tomorrow... just pray the pessary works so I can avoid the drip!

I put a thread on about being induced in the baby bit and had quite a few replies if you wanted to take a look. I am just not looking forward to the waiting around!!!

I am booked in at 9am Thurs and I have to ring at 8am to check there is a bed!!

At least we know for sure our babies will be born this week!!!

It is good to know bubs will be here by the end of the week.. there is a lot of waiting around though.

I don't have to go in until 1pm but I have to ring at 7.30am to check for a bed. There is a really strong chance that by 1pm they will be running behind or the bed will have been snatched up by someone else.

really hope that our babies make an appearence before the induction is necessary.

Hopefully it could happen at anytime!! Have you had any signs?
