At what age do they recognize numbers and letters?

Like others have said, it really depends on the kid. If Sofia's showing interest there's no reason not to encourage her. Flash cards aren't a necessity either - my LO learned her letters, numbers, and shapes mostly through books and puzzles.

By 18 months my oldest knew every alphabet letter, except 1 or 2 she would have mixed up, but now at the age of 3.5 she still can't recognize numbers, but can count.

My youngest who is 18 months old now can't even talk let alone know letters. She is quite behind! So each child is different :)

Not knowing the letters of the alphabet by 18 months is not "behind"

I think she was referring to her not even being able to talk yet. X

Thomas recognises numbers. In a sense. He 'counts'. He doesn't know the numbers but he will count my fingers saying 'beh, beh, beh' for each finger he ticks off. He does the same when he sees a clock so he must know what numbers are even if he can't vocalise it.

ETA: He first became aware of them last summer so just after he turned 2. He saw this and kept pointing to each number making me say it.

My DD knows the letters "M,B, & O" I sing her the abc song and she has a few toys that plays that song too, also she has wooden blocks with the alphabet on. I don't really "push" her to learn them but I find she is getting to the point where she repeats everything she hears. Numbers she just says 8 but doesnt recognize it.
I think they all learn at their own speed :)

I wasn't meaning her not knowing her letters as being behind. I mean her not knowing any words yet is her being a little behind... :D

I think DD1 was recognising and saying numbers 1-10 by 17 months. The alphabet she knows a few but that is down to my laziness of not teaching her! She can say the alphabet but I didnt actively teach her it.

Its completely different for each child. My ds is 2 and can do his alphabet a-f and can count to 6. Any letter or number he see's is 2. My friends lo is four months younger and can count to 20, knows all her alphabet and can recognise most letters and numbers. I wouldn't go out of my way to teach her it at that age but if she's enjoying it, just keep going as you are sounds like she's doing great.

Awwww......I just wanted to say cute pic of your boy!

Also, to OP my son can count 1-10 and recognize numbers 1-9. He recognizes a few letters and can say them as well. He will be 2.5 in a month.
