Hi everyone

I've been trying to conceive since I came off the pill last summer, now on cycle 12. Since the pill I have had very short cycles (21 - 22 days) and, I believe, a short luteal phase (8 - 9 days). I have determined this through BBT, OPKs, cervical mucus and ovulation pain. My fertility specialist, however, has told me that my "test results indicate that there is nothing wrong with my luteal phase" and that I must be ovulating around day 7 of my cycle. He has sent me a prescription for clomid through the post, but mentions on the cover letter that he doesn't really feel that it will be beneficial. He has asked me to take it for 4 cycles (unmonitored) and, if no pregnancy has occurred, told me that I'll then need to join the IVF waiting list.

I'm staggered. I have a history of endometriosis and really feel that I should have a lap and dye to assess the state of my tubes before moving forward. I also believe that if I'm going to take Clomid, it should be properly monitored. I moving house so am going to get referred to a different clinic shortly, but I am really scared that they are going to take the same approach. What on earth should I do?

xx

:hugs: Hi toptack! I'm surprised they aren't giving you a lap when you have a history of endo. That doesn't make sense. I am on unmonitored Clomid for my first 2 cycles as well, but I am taking progesterone for the last half of my cycle and my day21 results would be inaccurate. I'm not too worried about it. They don't start monitoring until I've moved to a higher dose. I hope you get a better FS when you move! Good luck...

Thanks BizyBee. I went to see my new doc yesterday, who told me that she is going to get all my notes from the FS and work out what's going on... she doesn't think I should start on the clomid until they have made sure that my tubes are open, because of the risk of ectopics. She made me feel a bit better about everything too - was on the verge of a breakdown yesterday!

How are things going with you this cycle? :hugs:

Definately get a full opinion from the new doc, and if your instinct says no, follow it. good luck :)
