Attention mum's with 1 year olds - No more bottles after 1??

My lo loves his morning bottle so that will be the hardest one to drop. He is not so bothered at all for the bedtime bottle, but I offer it anyways.
He is only on the two bottles of formula now, and during the day with meals he gets cows milk in a sippy cup.
Il continue with the morning bottle until he loses interest. Il probably stop the bedtime bottle next month and see how it goes.

I let my son self wean from the bottle. By 2 years he was down to 1 bottle a day and at 2 years 9 months he looked at his bottle one night and said can I have it in cup Mummy? and that was it. No stress or fuss. I personally don't see any reason to take the bottle from them at 1. I only ever put milk in his bottle, never let him take it to bed or suck on it longer than it took to drink it and brushed his teeth straight afterwards. He loved his bottle and he drank so much more milk than he would from a cup. I will give my daughter her bottle until she no longer wants it. Both mine have/had water in a beaker from 6 months with meals and milk in bottles.

Eva is 13 months, and she is still on 3-4 bottles a day. She eats well at meal times, she just seems to need the milk as well - if she was substituting milk for solids I might think about helping her phase them down, but the nursery ones say they are amazed that she takes everything that's offered in terms of solids but still wants her bottles too. She was tiny at birth, and still only on the nineth centile, so I figure she still needs it while a bigger baby might not. I intend letting her self wean as she sees fit. She drinks water out of a sippy cup fine, but doesn't get enough out of it to want to change her milk over too.

We started using sippy cups early. At 4 months we started giving the NUby ones for 3 months and up and now she drinks her formula from sippy cups. I have already packed the bottles away. At the end of this month I will start mixing milk into her formula and then finally all onto milk.

i only have a 6 month old so not really at that stage yet but am planning on not using bottles after 12/13 months ish if possible.

my friend has a 2.5 yr old who has a bottle before bed and walks around with it and chews on the teat and it looks ridiculous.

I binned DS's as soon as he was one, and will do the same if I ever get DD to take one! He just had his milk from a beaker. I just figure it's easier to get it gone in one hit than trying to break yet another baby habit down the line. I don't think there is any wrongs or right. It just suited me better and DS didn't even miss it.

I was thinking about starting with the Nuby ones! Also just noticed, our daughters have the same first name

My son had a bottle until 2.5 because he was still waking at night for a feed. We just had his first full dental appt and cleaning and his teeth are perfect. He also was early and very clear with his speech. Do whatever works best for you and ignore any so called 'advice'. We used a straw cup during the day starting around 14 months and a bottle at night.

I was told this a few weeks ago at her 9 month checkup. I bought a couple of stainless steel sippy cups and I'm going to try giving her a little bit of milk out of it each day but I'm sure she'll still get most of her milk from a bottle for a while longer.

Evelyn was about 14 months before she dropped her bottle and switched full time to a beaker :)

I plan on letting her self wean, she doesn't drink enough from a sippy cup (and Ive tried lots) and still needs her milk twice a day to get fluid and calcium as she's small for her age. As long as they don't have their bottle for comfort sucking which can lead to milk pooling in their mouths and causing teeth decay, and just drink it in one quick sup with teeth cleaning after I don't seethe problem.

We started phasing the bottle out at 11m, and a week before he turned 1, the only big bottle we had disappeared! Found it 2 days later under the couch, but he didnt even miss it!

Thomas still has a bottle for his morning and night milk. Beaker through the rest of the day.

No idea ho to move on to cups as he still has 3 bottles a day which he has one at each nap then bed time. he uses a sippy cup brillaintly as i offer water through out the day. ...maybe i shud stop giving him bottle at sleep times?

Of course it won't harm, all babies develop at different rates. I was also told this today at my DDs one year check, and when I told HV she was using non spill beakers she said it had to be a sippy cup. I told her straight that she isn't ready for one yet and when i feel she is, then she will use one. I made it clear that all these ridiculous 'government guidelines' are just that! A guidline, not a rule! xx

I dont plan to go cold turkey with it or anything. I am using a sippy cup most days to let her drink water from, but she really does love to have her bottle and cuddle with me....and since she had so many problems with BF I'm not in a hurry to take that away. she doesn't go to bed with bottles and I don't want to let her start doing that, but other than that I'm not stressing it
