I am so excited about our 1st IUI in August that's if we by a miracle don't get pregnant naturally this month. I am also really nervous because I don't know what to expect. This is the protocol my RE has planned for me Letrozole 2.5 mg days 3-7, genetic testing on day 3 as well, day 10 u/s as well as pregnyl trigger shot, and follow up on day 12 with IUI. First off I have so many things running through my mind like will I have enough mature follicles and will they be the right size. Also I haven't read many post about anyone using letrozole or pregnyl. However, I can't help but be hopeful since I recently had the lap in March w/ ovarian drilling and my DH sperm is normal. I have been researching how successful IUI is and chance of multiples etc. If anyone has any advice for me or has used these drugs before feel free to chime in. I also posted this in assisted conception. I am really just looking for women that I can walk through my journey and theirs together sharing advice and encouragement.

Hi, I have done 4 rounds of femara/IUI recently, all failed. We are unexplained infertility. Oddly enough, I also have one ovary and tube (although mine were surgically removed). We have that in common. :flower:

Some women really seem to like femara as compared to clomid, I'm not so sure. They both have pluses and minuses.

I wouldn't worry too much about follicle size. If they are not mature, they will have you come back in the next day or two to have another ultrasound and go from there. This happened to me nearly every clomid/IUI cycle that I did 10 years ago. :dohh:

Chance of conception with IUI is maximum 20% each cycle. Chance of twin conception with clomid/IUI is 10%. Chance of twin conception with femara/IUI is 7%. Triplet and higher order multiple pregnancy chances are nearly the same as unassisted (this is the beauty of oral meds versus injectables).

letrozole is the generic name for femara. There is a femara friends thread here on the ltttc board.https://babyandbump.momtastic.com/problems-trying-conceive/832646-femara-friends.html

Good luck with your cycle.

Thanks readyformore for the advice! I didn't realize letrozole was the generic for femara but makes sense. Are you planning on continuing with IUI?

Yep, I will do more IUIs at some point. My schedule is very tricky so I never know if I am going to get to do a cycle until AF starts and I can see where my treatment days would fall. I would like to do another cycle of two before the summer is out, but I refuse to have IUI interfere with my vacation plans.......so we'll see.

Good luck to you.
