Hello! I'm really sorry if this thread has already been covered, i'm new to the forums and did a search but couldn't find much

My hubby was diagnosed with Azoospermia in June 07 and after alot of faffing about with various hospitals. lost blood tests/sperm tests etc we were informed that there was perhaps a chance they could find, maybe a single sperm by doing a biopsy which would try and locate some somewhere. The operation sounds painful and my hubby is really not looking forward to it but if theres a chance of finding some sperm, we're willing to try it, because although obviously having donar sperm would be wonderful, it's not the same as DH fathering his own..

We have just recieved word that they have now got funding for this operation on the NHS so are currently waiting for a date.

I'm just wondering if anyone else's DH has been diagnosed with Azoospermia and has had the operation, or if anyone knows what it entails, etc?

I've never come across it before and I guess we can't help feeling so alone... :(

I guess you may have seen this post already but just copying it here so that you don't feel alone.

:hugs:

Hi and welcome!

Sorry to hear about dh's results but fab news about funding. There are lots of us here with male factor of some description! I think what you are referring to is PESA or TESA where they take sperm directly rather than dh having to give a sample. it doesn't give much info but this is the hfea website

https://www.hfea.gov.uk/1435.html

At the end of the day, they only need one good sperm for IVF. I hope your wait isn't too long.

Thats great, thanks so much to both of you.

Yes Mrs G, its TESA and PESA he has to have done. A bit of a scary thought so hence why I want to see all the info beforehand, so we can prepare ourselves!

This is the first time I've joined any type of forum so it's reassuring to know i'm not alone, should have joined sooner rather than get myself in a flap!

Thanks again for info, will look at it now :) x

Hope you managed to find out a bit more. As I said there are lots of us here with male factor issues. PM me anytime if you need anything.

Hi
Im new to this forum also.
Me and my DH are also dealing with Azoospermia. He was diagonised with it back in Mar this year. We had our first tesa in June this year but unfortunately they only found 1 but it wasnt moving. DH was only sore for a day or 2. We were told he has damaged tubes however good new was that some are fine and it just a case of finding some sperm. We have next appointment in september so see whats next.

Hi,

My DH and I are also dealing with this. We found out in June and, after his repeat test plus bloods and scans, we were put on the urologist waiting list. We were told 4-6 weeks but still hadn't heard anything from them by the end of July. I got all panicky (which of course doesn't help!) and called them to be given the wonderful line:
"Don't call us, we'll call you"... they still hadn't called by this Tuesday so after I had a bit of a cry (ok, a LOT of a cry) we decided to get a private consultation.

We have our 1st appointment next Friday.

Yesterday DH received his NHS appointment for October.

It's all so overwhelming. I'm trying to hold it together as I feel bad for DH but I'm really struggling.

Sorry to hijack the thread with an epic post but I actually gasped in surprise when I saw this thread after lurking here for so long.

x

Hi. First of all i wish you all the best and hope you dont have to wait too long on the nhs.

I just wanted to give you a glimmer of hope. A girl i used to work with has polycystic ovaries and her hubbie has azoospermia. They had one cycle of ivf which didnt work. Due to the stress of all this, they decided to put a hold on trying again. Within a year, she had concieved naturally !! How amazing is that !

so its not impossible even if the male partner does suffer from azoospermia.
