I heard recently that before you TTC, a woman`s B12 levels must be normal because if not, it can cause sever neurological problems. I have low B12, I was just curious as to if anyone knows if this is true, and what levels must they be at before you get pregnant.

is that folic acid? just take folic acid tablets 3m before you ttc

Hiya, I have B12 deficiency and also folate deficiency, I am under the care of a specialist and i asked his this question, he said that many women have low B12, you just continue to receive the injections as normal, but with the folate i will have have to have my normal 300 a day plus extra for baby. I have had this since 2006, i get extremley tired and drained, but the past few days god knows whats going on

Hope this helps, :hugs:

i've got low b12, i have pernecious anemia, (spelling).
although i had fertility treatment to get rhys and we are ttc straight away now they have never said anything about my b12 hmmmmm.
i will be asking my doc now.
i have 3 monthly injections as well

Both are b vitamins. actually I read if you take too much folic acid you can get a lack of B12 vitamin. So maybe one has to take both supplements then.

Oh my Goodness, I still have sooo much to learn!!!! xxxx

Well I have just checked the pre-conception vits that I bought today and they have 200% RDA of Folic acid AND Vit B12, so I am guessing it is quite important, hth xx

and Once again if you take too much of B12 you get spots and stuff...

i was always lead to believe that b12 isnt absorbed by the liver thats why i have to have it injected. i got pregnant eventually so it didnt effect me too much.
