Sorry in advanced for the storybook, I'm just trying to wrap my head around it all still.
She managed to come right on her due date of May 15! I had a routine OB appointment the day before and was checked at a 2-3 cm dilated and 70% effaced. Afterwards I was a bit crampy and that night I lost the rest of my mucus plug. I freaked out a bit because I thought that it had all gone the week before and was a bit shocked to find some bloody show when I wiped. Throughout the night and in the early morning I was having regular contractions that I thought were Braxton Hicks. I got up more than usual to pee thinking that that would help it, but instead they were becoming more intense. Around 6 in the morning I gave in and started getting dressed, hoping that a little activity could help ease them up. I wasn't convinced that it could be it and was a bit worried about being sent home from the hospital again. Finally around 7 I was convinced into calling the doctor and seeing what she had to say about what to do. I waited 30 minutes and hadn't heard back and was to the point to where I decided to just go in (at my hospital you're supposed to call the doctor and let them know if you're coming so that they'll have a room ready). On the way there we get stuck behind an older couple going five under the 25 speed limit. My mom tried talking OH into sticking his head out the window and doing siren noises.![haha :haha: :haha:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/haha.gif)
Once we arrive I get set up into my room. The nurse let's me know that I'm lucky to have gotten in when I did because I got the last room and another lady showed up five minutes after I had. After getting settled into my room and having my contractions monitored it was time to get checked at about 9:30. I ended up doubling what I was the day before at now being 5 cm dilated! Things started to fly by after that. I was worried about getting my epidural due to getting a catheter put in, but I wasn't even aware when it was or when it was taken out. My epidural worked wonders and the anesthesiologist became my best friend lol. Contractions were painless and at times I couldn't even feel the tightening of one coming on. OH was convinced that I'd be completely numb and every five minutes since having the medicine administered kept pinching my toes and asking if I could feel it. He even told me that if I couldn't he'd give me a foot rub (I did convince him into it later). At about 2 I was at a 9 and ready to push. No one could believe that with my first I was progressing so quickly (it's crazy realizing that I dilated a cm an hour at the hospital!). My waters got broke and the doctor let me know that the baby got Meconium into her amniotic fluid. I didn't even realize my waters were broke, I asked after my doctor was rinsing off the thing. OH thought that that was funny since one of my fears was having my waters broke (well and the catheter but I still don't like to think about it). During some successful pushing, the doctor let me know that my baby has a head full of strawberry blonde hair. I thought that she was joking because OH and I have darker hair, but apparently he was pretty blonde when he was born, too.
After 30 minutes of pushing my beautiful Amelia Leeanne was born at 2:59 pm weighing 7 lb 14 oz and being 20 inches long. While they took her away to deal with the Meconium, I was getting stitches from a tear. That was honestly more painful then labor itself for me. As Amelia was being taken care of and I heard her crying, I bawled. Poor OH has two babies to deal with apparently. I just couldn't believe how beautiful she is and wanted to hold her already. When I was finally able to she latched on for a feed perfectly and kept making the funniest faces while she was trying to get it all figured out.
