My LO has been all over the place with naps today! She had a mornng nap (9am - 9.40) We were at Water Babies this morning which usually means she has a long nap after - she slept for 15 mins!! (12.15 - 12.30) Then we took her for her last set of injections and she slept in car on the wa back (2.45 - 3.15) so only 1.15 hours of daytime sleep so far!

She was absolutely shattered so I put her down and she has gone straight to sleep at 5pm! She normally goes to bed at 6.30pm. Not sure what to do!! Do I treat this sleep as bedtime or as a late nap and put her to bed later? She's a little out of sorts anyway due to jabs.

Or will she just tell me herself by waking u after her usual 40mins? Thing is sometimes she does this when I put her down for bedtime anyway!! So confused!

Any advice anyone??

Thank you in advance

Ps she is nearly 4 months.

Hello :)

She may simply be extra sleepy after her jabs? Lo slept for 4hrs straight after first set (most not in bed with me was 20mins at that point!)

See how she is when she wakes, maybe try resettling if she wakes up grumpy/crying but no need to worry about pushing, maybe extra nap and slightly later bedtime today?

Lo is 5mths tomorrow and currently does 4naps with bedtime 9.30-10! So jealous of 6.30!! :)

Let me start off by saying: I am not a sleep expert!

I think the people who know the most about sleep on here might want to know what time she was up for the day?

If she were mine, I would probably count it as early bedtime. This did happen to me after our 4 month shots. She was in pain and screaming so bad, I gave her Tylenol, and she passed out on me at 5pm for the night. I think at that time, she was regularly going to bed between 7:30-8pm. She did sleep all night too that night.

Thanks you ladies :flower:

I will see how is when/if she wakes up soon. She only ever sleeps for 40 mins tops for naps. She woke this morning at 7.15am.

Kettle - i think we have been really lucky with how well she took to her bedtime routine! She's never in bed any later than 7pm but she doesn't sleep through - she generally wakes around 1am and 4am for feeds but then goes straight back to sleep so I really can't complain at all - she is 4 months next week though and dare I even whisper th words.....4 month sleep regression....shhhh!!! Ha ha!

Thanks again ladies....we'll see what tonight brings!

I would personally treat it as bedtime, especially if her naps have been very short today.

If LO refuses his last nap or we have a really busy day and he hasn't napped very well, he goes to bed at 5.30pm (bedtime is usually 6/6.30pm).

Thank you! Ok, I'll think I'll definitely treat as bedtime - she's been asleep the usual 40 mins now and no sign of stirring! The only other thing I'm Worried about is she has had nowhere near enough milk today....she kept refusing the boob after her jabs (very unusual) and only had a little before bed so she'll probably wake shortly with an empty belly....poor baby! :( Jabs have a lot to answer for!! (even though I know they are for the greater good really!)

My 2nd has had a 5pm bedtime since the day he was born (I got lucky). Enjoy the evening to yourself! With my 1st it was the same and for some reason I kept trying to make it later, but OH + I have had 6-10pm to ourselves for 3 years now (6pm being the toddler bedtime) and it was the best decision we ever made!

Yeah it's great!! Ha ha! She did just wake up but I resettled her and after 10 minutes dropped back off so am just chilling now :D shame my OH is out though......or actually, is it?? :haha:

Early bedtimes rock!

Hi
After my lo had his first jabs he slept all day, i was really concerned so rang hv. She said some babies either go wild & impossible to settle, or some like to sleep it off. Hes been the same with his subsequent jabs. Maybe she just likes sleeping them off? As for feeds, reassure yourself that she would soon tell you if she was hungry. You might just have massive boobs in the morning!
Enjoy an evening off & try not too worry!
x

Thanks Becky! Yeah she must be one of the sleepy ones! My boobs are already like melons so I'm off to express! Thanks for the reassurance :flower:
