Alright. So May 22 my mother called me to wake me up. I realized I had a sore throat. I went downstairs to pee and when I wiped there was blood on the toilet paper. I called mom, and noticed I was having contractions. They were not regular at all, so I didn't think much of it. A little bit later, I went to the bathroom and there was blood on my underwear this time. I called L&D and they said to come in and get checked out just to be sure. So, I texted Caleb and told him it was time. By this point my contractions were getting stronger and I was getting worried being by myself with Clint. So Caleb came home. Then we started getting ready. I cleaned the house a bit. We went outside and grilled hamburgers. Me and Clint took a ride on the mower to get the mail for the last time. We came in and ate. I went to get in the shower and went to the bathroom again and there was a small blood clot. I jumped in the shower, and off we went.
We went to drop Clint off at mom's. We were going down this one road and one of my tires was making an absolutely horrible noise. We thought for sure we had a flat. We pulled over, and there was nothing, so kept going. Finally at the end of the road we saw where a tractor tire had made inprints in the road. Anyhow, got to mom's, gave Clint a hug and kiss, and continued to the hospital.
Arrived at hospital, got checked out. Nurse Misty came in and introduced herself. I immediately reconized her as the nurse who delivered Clint, what a coincidence. I was 1 cm dilated. Dr. came in and said that every time I had a contraction the baby's heart rate would slightly drop. She said I could stay or I could go (this was around 5 pm). I said I would stay.
She had put in an order that at 9 PM they would put something inside me that started with a C... to soften my cervix I believe. It was on a long string type thing. It was not very comfortable going up there at all. They hooked me up to an IV and off I went for the night. I had to get up and pee every hour or so, and it was a pain. I didn't sleep well at all since I was hooked up to everything.
Sometime towards early morning, my contractions started getting rougher. (Rewind: The night shift doctor had come in and introduced himself at the beginning of his shift and said, "I don't think I will be delivering your baby BUT I'm Dr....") I had this horrible urge to poop. I asked the nurse if I could go, and she said they would have to check me first. It was constant, like with every contraction that I felt I had to go. So they checked me and I was at a four. She also took the C thing out. They said I could go, but not to push too hard. She asked if I was ready for my epidural and I said yes. That was around 6 AM and the anesthesiologist wouldn't be in until 7, but I could get it as soon as they got there. So I went to the bathroom. Looking back, I was pretty much pushing my baby out, not trying to poop. But the urge was horrible. TMI, I got a little out and decided I should quit since that was obviously not what was wrong. I started to panic. I came out of the bathroom and woke Caleb up, telling him I didn't feel right. The nurse came back in and she could tell I was panicing. The contractions were intense and I felt the overwelming urge to push. I kept saying I had to push. So she brought another nurse in and she checked me, then she said to go get the doctor it was time.
Caleb called mom and told her it was time. Doctor came in and they started setting everything up. They told me I could push just to relieve myself. I asked about my epidural and the nurse sweetly looked at me and said, "Honey this baby is coming. We don't have time for one." I asked if I could have anything and they said no. I started panicking even worse and saying I couldn't do it. They told me I could. With every contraction the doctor would stick his hand up me and do something (I later asked him and he said he was pushing my cervix up? because it was still there partially.) It was very uncomfortable and made me irritated. They kept telling me not to push. I kept saying I can't. Finally, during one contraction the doctor pulled his hand out, told me to push, I pushed, and out came the baby. They put him on my stomach to clean him off. At that point Caleb called mom and told her the baby was here. The time between his calls was 14 minutes.
So all was good. I didn't tear at all. Baby was healthy, born at exactly 39 weeks. May 23 Born at 6:39 AM (in roughly 40 minutes I had gone from 4 cm to a newborn). 20 1/2" long. 7 lbs 10 ozs. Blake Logan. It was an amazing birth. I am much more laid back with him. It is a challenge with two but def. worth it. I love the first meal after birth, food has never tasted so good. The first time I got up to go to the bathroom I left a trail. Oh well, alls good now.
