Hi,
I figured it was too early to worry about names yet but then I saw some other first tri folks with names already picked so I figure why not?
We are trying to stay team yellow and already have a girl name we agree on but not so much for boys.

I can't figure out what our style/taste is exactly. I am not looking to have these names rated but more ideas of what our style/taste is and suggestions for more names to add to the list.

These are names we like but not we 100% love:

Warren (I like it, DH does not)
Noah (DH likes it, we have close friends with a boy named Noah and I think that is weird)
Oliver
Reid
Logan
Duncan
Edison
Hudson
Owen
Ethan
Graham
Theodore (nn Ted)
Irving
Anthony (a family name that DH isn't sure we can get away with as another cousin's dad is Anthony and he may wish to name his son that - we would maybe have to check with him)

Any thoughts/suggestions very welcome. Thanks!

Oh, looking at them all in a list like that maybe we like names that end in "n"!

But most search engines only let you search by the starting letter so I am not sure how to find more of those...

I think I would say you like: top 100, traditional names, that end in "N" - nothing too "weird" or unique or nature-y.

Addtl suggestions (along those lines):

Landon
Keegan
Alexander
Andrew
Thomas
Nicholas
Cameron
Collin
Carson
Austin
Rylan
Evan

Great list Ruby and thanks for the feedback too!

I like a number of those. Keegan is the only one I'm really not fond of and honestly that could be due to a Keegan I have known.

Will show DH and see if we can add any more to our "both okay with" list.

Wesley
Lincoln
Malcolm
Edward
Quinton
Hayden
Nathan
Aaron
Aiden
Keiran

I LOVE LOVE Noah!!!

I also love Ethan and Owen. Those are my personal favs. Theodore is also nice but I'd be probed to calling him Theo. I grew up with one so I think it's just natural to me.
I also like Anthony. I've known about a dozen over the years and all of them were super kind and very, very funny!

Some other names that come to mind

Nathan nn Nate
Landon..on your list
Brandon
Nicholas
Elijah/ Eli
Ian
Kyle

BTW, love Rosemary! All great picks. You can't go wrong girlfriend!! :hugs: So happy for you!!!! :happydance:

I agree with MnG - love the name Noah...may have to pinch that one from you!

We struggle with boys names too. The only one we agree on is Elliott.

Xx

Thanks Mn!

Ted is a family name for DH so I think that's why that would be the nn for Theodore.

DH loves Noah too but I just think it would be so weird since we have close friends with a baby Noah. DH thinks it is fine but I dunno...

I am the worst for not wanting to use names because of bad associations too. I have ex-boyfriends named Nate (Nathan) and Nick (Nicholas) so those are out for me even though they are nice names.

Owen is getting stronger in my preferences. I just don't like that it doesn't really have any nn possibilities I can think of.

Thanks again MnG! I hope you are picking out your own names very soon!

Can you make a name binding yours and his??

I completely get your hesitation on not using names bc friends have them. A close friend just named her baby boy Colin and it was on my "what if" list... I guess I don't have to worry about that one anymore.

Some others Ive seen lately

Lennox
Rogan
Kody
Travis
Curtis
Simon
Joel

Ooh I do like Rogan but I have always had a huge crush on Seth Rogan and DH knows it so I don't think he'd go for that one, haha!

What they don't know.... ;) :haha:

Edit-- just realized you wrote that he knows. Boo! Lol

Trying to think of other names I've seen in the hospital..

Shane
Seth
Terrance
Triston
Bryce
Darius
Blake
Alex
Dominic
Demitri
Felix
Emeric/ Emery
Greg
Isaac
Konrad

I love Theodore, Oliver, and Collin (and I think they would all be awesome with Rosemary should yall decide to use down the line). I think Nameberry has an option where you can search by ending. Kieran I also love...so many people suggested some of my favs that DH will never let me use! Damien would be cute, but with Rosemary would make me think of horror movies (hehe).

Addison
Aiden
Adrian
Alan
Alvin (maybe not a good idea if you want a Theodore as well!)
Austin/Austen
Bastien

And now I will stop going through Nameberry's list of -n ending names alphabetically. On that one you can search by ending, you just have to deal with made up names and kr8yve spellings :D :D :D

Thanks Nica.

I should also mention that we have a very Italian surname so some names we like don't seem to go well. We tried looking at lists of Italian names but since I am not Italian at all and DH doesn't speak it or have that strong ties to the culture they mostly just seemed over-the-top.

Hi mint, just browsing through the name forum and saw your thread!
I think you have a list of really nice names. I do like Owen, and I kinda think tha it's a bonus that there's not necessarily a nickname, you KNOW he will be called Owen. ( I'm not one for nicknames, so maybe it's just my personal taste) if I name my child something, I obviously want him/ her to be called that, otherwise I would've named them the nickname. That's just silly me though.
I thought it was crazy that someone listed Rylan. We had picked that from our first pregnancy ( we've always been team yellow) and haven't had the chance to use it. If this ones a boy, it will be Rylan. I never tell my names, and I very RARELY have seen it so I was just surprised it got listed. Was interesting. But I love it and recommend it of course, lol! As its my favorite.
Anyhow, good luck, will be following to see what you and your hubby decide!

Hey Jules!
We have one Rylan at my school actually. He's pretty cute. I haven't worked with him much. It might be spelled differently.
See, I actually really like nicknames! So Oliver is leading for me right now because of nn Ollie.
We have a lot of time though so I know it will probably change.
I still don't feel convinced of any of them like I do with our girl name.

You don't want to do another J name to match?

Haha, no, no J for a boys name. we both love Rylan it was nice to actually agree on one ( even though we had two girls and have yet to use it!) We found it in like 5 seconds but we NEVER agree on girls names... I just always win since its my hoohah that's torn apart during labor! Ha! ( I've had some rough deliveries, so he has no complaints and loves the girls names).
If its another girl, we have no idea but I feel like it should be a J name to fit the other two girls names ( and mine- Julie) I think it might be Jenna, bc pregnancy number one that was the front runner that eventually turned into Jessa, then into Jessalyn ( my middle name is Lynne, so she has some of me in it!) she goes by her full name Jessalyn, but I actually like Jessa so would be happy with that for a nickname. So if we did have three girls, It would be Jessa, Jayla, Jenna. My troupe! Hahaha
Idk, I hate the whole name thing.
