When I went out to my pool this morning, I found what I thought was a dead baby rabbit. Turns out he's alive and kicking! We tried to get him out using the net but he was on the stairs and not cooperating. So, we picked him up to get him out.

Thing is is that since it was in our pool and we did touch him, I don't think the mother will take him back. He's very tiny...only 3 1/2 inches so he can't survive on his own.

I read online about giving it kitten milk replacement 2x a day? Currently, he's in a little box with bedding.

The few vets that are open on Sundays don't take care of rabbits and any wildlife center is hours away.

Anyone have any advice?

Keep him warm and safe. Try feeding him every hour with a syringe (I'm not sure how much baby rabbits are meant to eat) and get the little mite to a wildlife center as soon as you can.

What a lucky little baby! Has it got any fur yet?

Yeah, he has lots of fur. I'll get a pic ASAP.

I managed to find this, I hope it helps :flower:

The following is a guideline for the daily amount to feed a TRULY orphaned bunny (mother was killed, etc.) Remember with wild bunnies, the mom only comes back at night to call and feed him; please put him back for her if just found and healthy. With domestics, the mom only feeds once or twice a day for only 5 minutes. Leave babies with the mom. For wild true orphans, see contacts for wildlife rehabbers under wild orphans.

Feeding of True Orphans Age + Amount (This WILL vary depending on type of rabbit. It is impossible over the Internet to see your particular rabbit, so this is only approximate.) Use KMR kitten or KMR kitten plus Goat milk, regular not low fat. Add a pinch of acidophilus (aka Probiotic) to the formula to promote healthy gut flora. Formulas vary depending on region. Avoid Esbilac. FEED TWICE A DAY ONLY.

Newborn to One Week: 2 - 2+1/2 cc/ml each feeding (two feedings per day).

1-2 weeks: 5-7 cc/ml each feeding (two feedings per day). (depending on bunny..may be much LESS if smaller rabbit!) Newborn babies (if eyes closed) all need to be stimulated to urinate and defecate prior to or following feeding until their eyes open. (Except Jackrabbits do not). *See how to below.

2-3 weeks: 7-13 cc/ml each feeding (two feedings). Domestic eyes open at about 10 days of age. Start introducing them to timothy and oat hay, pellets and water (always add fresh greens for wild ones).

3-6 weeks: 13-15 cc/ml each feeding (two feedings--again, may be LESS depending on size of rabbit! A cottontail will take so much less!! Half this at most.) Domestics are weaned about 6 weeks. Cottontails wean and release about 3-4 weeks and jackrabbits much later (9+ weeks).

Is mum a domesticated bunny?

If she is she may well take him back just fine. After they have hair mum is usually ok. Give him a good rub down with some bedding first.

If not, the above feeding routine is perfect. But after a feed, get him to hop about. rabbits digestive systems are delicate and they rely on movement to digest food. Make sure his tummy doesn't swell up. If it does you can use infacol!

This is the bunny:

Aw, Chris. No advice but I want him! He is soooooo cute!!! Remember when mine was that little.

Guessing you won't be able to keep him with Annie about?

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh poor bunny glad ur taking care of him x

Awwwwww, he's so sweet! And very lucky indeed!

Good luck looking after him!

We found a wild bunny who looked very similar, but a lot smaller and sadly he didn't survive. But the advice on here is great with feeding and keeping them warm. Good luck hun :hugs:

awww hes so sweet are you going to adopt him or let him go?

you will have to update with how things go x

No expert, but I would say it's a week to two weeks old :D If you can get a little teat pipette to feed him (her!) kitten milk - don't know any brand names over there but the one I use over here is cimicat (which is for cats, as the name suggests!), there was another one called Lactol or something similar. One I bought from the vets but the other I just bought from an ordinary petshop.

Time-wise, I was advised every two hours, but I had 4 to feed and as soon as I finished the last one, the first one would be hungry again!!

Good luck, hope the little fella thrives and that you get him sorted soon :D

What a cutie!! Have you tried the kitten formula yet? I really hope he eats for you and survives! Good luck.

Awww so sweet! He is lucky you found him x
