My boy has jus started with eczema and we now on 2nd cream from gp,its on his face both sides of mouth so obviously it's been hard to clear up as he'd dribbling with teething and have to wipe the area after food,I've stopped usin wipes and jus using wet cotton pads then dry area. Those that have the same problem what do u use.?are their any wipes u can buy that b ok

I think stopping the wipes was a good idea.

DD3 has eczema and her mouth/chin/cheeks can be particularly effected (apparently called cold effect inflamed eczema)

We bath dd3 in Oliatum, which we then put on her wet chin/face, rinse then dab dry.
She has to use Diprobase and Fucidin cream (when she has flare ups the doctors give her a 7 day treatment of Fucidin H as it contains steroids to really help)

She also has a piriton prescription too, which helps control the itching as it heals (if not she just rips her face apart scratching)

Its hard work keeping on top of it and the cold weather really aggravates it too. I pretty much still carry a dribble bid thingy around to keep it dry whenever needed.

Oh and she's just turned 2 this week (if that makes a difference) its been going on since she was about 3 months old.

My 7 mo is the same since he started teething. I wash with a damp cotton type baby flannel with plain water, dab dry and during the day I apply double base. At night before he goes to bed I apply vasaline. I have some hydrocortisone from his Dr br havent used it yet.

Agreed, water is the best thing to clean with. I find anything I put on her face to clean just aggravates it. Best to use plain water and then double base/e45 type cream after x

My 7 month old is having the same trouble at the minute. Steroid cream helps, but can't keep using it indefinitely, and it comes back when i stop the steroid cream. I use kitchen roll with plain water rather than wipes for cleaning his face. Cream-wise, I find the diprobase ointment (Vaseline consistency) good - I apply it before his nap and before bed, otherwise it's super messy, and then normal emollient (we're using Cetraben at present) regularly during the day.

Oh, and I use a brand of wipes called Waterwipes for nappy changes as the other ones really aggregate my daughter's eczema in that area - they are just water and a tiny bit of fruit extract. They make a world of difference. You can get them in Boots or online - I think Kiddicare do them.

Thank u ladies........well I rang gp today as my boy been on fusidic cream since mon and today it's got worse,so red and crackin, looks so sore,we had zero base cream before that and it didn't work......yest his skin started to look a bit better but as soon as it does it flares up again:growlmad: just feel for him as looks so sore, think they said b tryin him with. Steroid cream

I just use water on a really soft cloth and dry immediately. I put lots of aquaphor on during the day to act as a barrier as well. I also don't clean his face all the time unless it is after food. If it is milk it gets dabbed dry, I only clean for food and first thing in the morning as well as last thing at night.

Try to clean with just a little non-perfumed baby oil on a cotton bud. And clean face with water maybe once before bedtime? We use only oil to clean their bottoms at every nappy change after advice from our stay at NICU and clean with water just once or twice daily.

I'd try switching the kitchen roll to a softer cloth. Kitchen roll can be quite rough.

I presumed my lo had eczema on her face too but when I took her to the GP for something else he said thats not true eczema but drool burn.
Anywho we use just water and cotton wool on her face even when she doesn't have it.
