My 3 month olds neck looks really sore and red. I'm guessing the place doesn't get much air so that could be the reason? is there anything I could do for it or should I just keep it clean and leave it?

He also has it behind his ears but also has scaly looking stuff which I think could be cradle cap?

My lo is 6 months old and she has had a red crease on her neck since 3 months when she started putting weight on. Sudocream works wonders. Not baby powder. I also try to bath her every day and wash there and dry properly. She also occasionally gets scaly bits behind ears. I mosturise them in the morning and then wipe off in the evening. I do this sort of once-twice a month

DD2 has this on and off either under her neck or armpits.

I just bathe it with cooled boiled water then apply sudocream for a few days usually goes away after that. Also found not using dribble bibs helped too.

She also has the scaly bits you both describe I use Aveeno.
Hope it's better soon x

It sounds like a dribble rash. I used a baby skin cream that was coconut oil based, which cleared it right up (it was coconut oil with a bit of calendula and chamomile). Just coconut oil would also do the trick, just something to soothe what's already inflamed and create a barrier against the dribble.

Could be a yeast infection- it's prone to staying wet in the creases. X

Wow!!! I had a calendula cream in the cupboard but never used it (i have tonne of stuff that i bought whilst preg, whenever i heard about it), put in on her neck in the afternoon, the redness cleared by night!! I think sudocream might take a backseat for now. Thanks for your advice!!!

That's good news!!.

Think I will have to invest in that cream if it's available in the UK

My DD has this, I put it down to a mixture of how much she dribbles/being a bit warm. I try to keep it as dry as possible (usually keep a spare bib for neck wiping in my bag haha!) and so far a little bit of vaseline on it has kept it from getting inflamed.

My daughter gets it badly, we use epaderm on her neck at every nappy change. We also don't use any scented products. Hers is caused by dribbling but when she stays at her grandparents its always worse because the scented bath stuff irritates it further.

Well the redness went down a few days ago only to return this morning! It looks absolutely sore and one place looked like it had a tiny cut, ouch! It didn't appear to be causing him any harm but I notice that after a bath it looks less red. Poor boy is constantly itching face as well especially behind his ears where its crusted and sore too.

The Dr just said its eczema on his neck too?

You will need to go gp to get the right cream. It won't disappear especially if it gets angry. It's normal and happens to bring wet, sweat and no air circulation. It can get really bad quite quickly. It doesn't hurt them. The cream works in a few days and clears.
