im going to see my gran on wed and cos im going on the train i cant take the moses basket there with me and i dont want to buy a new one just for a few days so my gran suggested i put her to sleep in a drawer lmao

shes gna look sooo cute, i almost cant wait

i just wondered though, do i put a pillow in there for her to lie on or is that dangerous? i cant lie her on the hard wood but i dont know wot else to put in there? a couple of blankets? surely those will be more dangerous than a pillow?

anyone know?

x

I would put down a few blankets or a thicker blanket. I wouldn't put a pillow in as she is still very small x

I would but a couple of blankets down first and then a sheet on top tucked in well for her to sleep on top of. xx

Lol, this thread is gonna get some interesting replies! Personally I too would either have baby in bed with me, or I would make her a makeshift bed on the floor which IMO might be a bit safer than in a drawer which could be hard if she hit her head. A Six week old baby isn't all that mobile, so you do have a few options!

i'd put a a fleecy blanket down, a pillow's too soft.

actually, i'd have her in bed with me, but if i were to put her in a drawer i'd do the blanket thing

I would of just had baby in bed with me if there was no cot/moses basket! I know some people say sleeping with your baby isnt safe but surely the drawer thing is just as safe as sleeping with baby anyway?! Depends where you are sleeping yourself i suppose..

When my cousins came down from Ontario with their baby this summer, they padded out a laundry basket and slept her in that!

one like this, of course:

i would put her in bed with me  i would be scared the wood would hurt her?

 I'm sure she'll be fine with a fleecy blanket to pad the bottom of it. You can always put a sheet over the top of it, up the sides and under the base so that there's nothing for her to get wrapped up in. At 6 weeks she shouldn't move enough for it to be a problem. I like Rae's laundry basket idea though  x

I'm sure alot of babies used to sleep in draws in the olden days!

yea they used to put them in bottom drawers. my mum ended up in one, she was a missed twin!! i thought rae meant like a dirty laundry basket at first - couldnt see how it would work!!

Im a drawer baby

Pad it out with blankets! It will be perfectly fine! For those that say its abit unsafe , sleeping with LO has far more risks!

What type of pram do you have? As it might be suitable to sleep her in.

If I was putting a small baby in a drawer I would fold up a thick blanket(s) to the exact size of the base of the drawer (no gaps) and put a sheet over it then the baby. Also check the inside of the drawer or whatever carefully for sharp edges she could cut herself on.

My friend took her baby to see her friend in a Prague, she was travelling on her own so couldn't take a cot or basket so she opened out her suitcase and padded it out! Have a good break xx

My nurse said people used to always have their babies sleep in drawers and laundry baskets. I would just fold up a few blankets.

I've always wanted to put a baby to sleep in a drawer.. is that a strange thing to want to do?? Hee hee, I think I must've seen it in a movie and thought it looked cute!

I would swaddle her and put down a few blankets with a sheet over the top like someone else said.

As long as you pad it out so no sharp edges etc. then it will be fine. A baby won't care where it sleeps as long as it is comfortable & warm, which I am sure she will be!!!!
