just a quick announcement
lola rose was born at 5:45am at 38 weeks +3, on the 16th of march weighing 7lbs 6ozs. not quite the GD monster i was told i was having.
induction of labour was hard to get going, they were able to rupture my membranes without me needing any prostin pessaries (yay!) i had a few contractions then things stopped. ended up on the syntocin anyway which spend things up. managed through most of it on gas and air.. total established labour time was 2 hours 29 minutes.
i had an epidural put in at about 5:30am as i thought i was going to need it.. i was checked and found to be 5cms. felt the most intense pressure to push, never felt anything like it.
the midwife was telling me not to as i wasn't ready and i could get a swollen cervix. she really didn't believe me at all! nothing was ready
cue two midwives running around like headless chickens when they finally realised i wasn't talking crap
well, lola thought different.
she was born at 5:45am with the cord around her neck. poor thing! i absolutley cannot believe how quickly she came into the world. pushing felt AMAZING. never thought i'd hear myself say that. contractions are the worst part by far. i'd easily push anyones baby out for them if i could.
jake was a forceps delivery so i didn't feel anything due to be so numb. i've never felt so empowered or proud of myself in all my life!
midwife didn't even have time to get an apron on to deliver here. my placenta was really big and the cord was quite thick but breakable?! the midwife was gently pulling and it snapped
blood up the walls and everything! looked like a horror film.
i did have a panic attack following her birth about 3 hours later. my pulse rate was 169 and i just couldn't catch my breath. felt like my heart was racing (which it was..) ended up with loads of people in the room and oxygen but i calmed myself down. i kept asking the midwife what had happened and how come she was here so quickly
really was a shock.
but we're home
i suffered some small grazes and a small tear which didn't need stitches. recovery has been amazing this time round as i can walk and sit down without it hurting. my episiotomy last time was awful!
so yes a short but now quite long update
