When did you try your little ones on baby rice or Rusks I knw it says 4 months on the pack but im sure it was 3 not so long ago? Changes happen way too frequently for me to keep up :dohh:

I don't think it's ever been three months. I never used rusks, full of sugar, but started on baby rice at 6 months ( avoid gluten before 6 months), many would argue that baby rice is not necessary, however, and going straight onto puréed vegs etc. is a better option as near to six months as possible.

I know it was 3 months, but that was 20 years ago (it says in my red book from when I was a baby to start weaning at 3)

I don't like rusks or baby rice because, and no other reason, they're icky! (OH tried baby rice, I have a massive aversion to biscuits, especially the soggy type! I agree pureed veg or fruit is a better first food

I've never used rusks just because of the amount of sugar in them, works out the same as a biscuit or something silly just in case you didn't know.

I fed baby rice at 4 months, but added fruit purée as the nutritional value isn't good xx

I never gave ether of them. Baby rice is not needed, there is hardly any natural vitamins in rice. They are fortified with synthetic nutrients which are harder to absorb than naturally occurring ones.

Rusks even the low sugar versions are loaded with sugar. There is a similar amount of sugar in a chocolate digestive. The pack says 4 months even they contain gluten which should be avoided to 6 months.

Just a note om gluten... It doesnt need to be 'avoided' before 6 months. It just shouldnt be introduced earlier than 4 months. There is also a risk from delaying introdction to gluten till after 6/7 months. The optimum time to introduce gluten os apparently at some point between 4-6 months.
