Hey

My little man is 15 weeks this thursday and has gone back to 2 hourly feeds. He is 14lbs 6oz and is a long baby so think he is having a growth spurt or he just needs the feeds so regular to sustain him.

sooooo...am thinking about trying a little bit of baby rice around his 6 o clock feed to see if that helps fill him up a bit more before he goes to bed which he usually has a bottle of expressed milk (6oz) about 9ish. I don't mind getting up and feeding if he needs it but surely it isn't great for him to to have broken sleep?

Are any of you ladies finding the same with your LO's?

I think Amelia has always feed 2hourly, she did start to go longer during the day, but once she started back feeding every 2hours she then started sleeping better at night time.

Jasmine feeds every 2 hours during the day and has a small bowl of rice cereal at 6pm. She sleeps all night... She is 13 weeks, i've been giving her to her for the past week. Good luck, it works for some babies, some it doesn't.

Hannah's had oatmeal since 3.5 months old and still woke up for that night time bottle until the last couple of weeks when we just took it away from her (not that I recommend that!) We only took it away because she was eating at 3 a.m. and than not eating again until noon the next day. We kept the midnight feeding until she no longer needed it (ie when she was still eating at night and in the morning we kept the bottle.)

My HV actually recommended trying weaning (she said veg rather than rice, dunno the reason for this) as my baby was feeding very regularly too after having slowed down. This was at just under 3.5 months.

Baby wasn't interested though, didn't know how to swallow food or anything so that was given up as a bad job and he just got fed more for about 4 weeks! It's more tiring than a newborn because you feel soo fantastic after getting some decent sleep at night then they start this, grr babies sometimes I think they need to wise up a bit (joke.)

Anyway give it a go but don't count on it.

ps did you try a dream feed, some people on here say it's good but I never had the nerve to wake mine...

My health visitor said that you should not give baby anything other than milk until 17 weeks at the very earliest. She has told me to try and get Thomas as close to 6 months as possible as their digestive systems are not ready to cope with solids before that. However, I have heard a rumour that the NHS are going to revert back to weaning at 4 months instead of 6 again soon so who knows what is best?!

Thanks ladies

I asked the hv and she took a sharp intake of breath over the phone when I mentioned baby rice and that weaning shouldn't take place until 6 months but under some circumstances it is recommended at 4 months. I mean who knows they confuse us these days and worry us with everything don't they! I was looking through my husbands baby book and he was on milupa at 11 weeks as was a big baby!

I have tried swapping a breast milk bottle for a formula bottle on friday and now every night and he went for.....

2 hours....hmmmmmm he just a hungry boy and have to accept it i think! I have also tried just trying to comfort him inthe night when he wakes up but won't go back down until he has had booby!

Maley was very hungry...still sleeps through the night but in the day she would still be hungry and moan after a 7oz bottle!!! and it was thickened with Cow&Gate Carobel...and she will cry after it and suck her hand off!!

today we gave her a spoonful of baby rice...and she loved it and ate it properly!!! she actually cried when we didnt give her anymore....!!!! we will see if it makes a difference....

i think they should , i started spoon feeding my oldest at 10 weeks he is 14 now & danielle & andrew i started them at about 4 months , not sure when i will start with jack , they say not to start spoon feeding them untill 6 months because of obsisty , i don,t think it has anything to do with the digestive system . xx

I dont think it has anything to do with obesity... Its the day and age we live in, too many kids sit inside playing video games etc and eating junk... I dont think it would have mattered what they eat.
