My 12 week old has been rolling front to back for a few days now. He'll do it every time we put him on his tummy but has yet to roll from his back to front.

Does this mean I need to stop swaddling him for sleeping? I thought the rule was once they start rolling you have to stop swaddling them but he is still so tiny and really seems to rely on the swaddle to help him sleep.

What does everyone think?

My LG has been rolling from front to back since she was 2 and a half weeks old. I didn't attempt to stop swaddling her until she started rolling from back to front.

Having said that, while the advice is definitely to stop swaddling once they can roll from back to front, I admit to having broken the rules. I tried to ditch the swaddle and nobody was getting any sleep at all. She is now 6 months old and still swaddled for sleep, we just bought a sleep positioner to keep her on her back.

My friend got a zipadee zip once her son was rolling (I have no experience as my daughter hated being swaddled).

He couldn't sleep with his arms free and kept waking himself up. The zipadee zip allows arm movement but not enough so he was waking up.

I stopped swaddling both of mine in the arm area once they were able to roll onto their tummy. I used the swaddleme blankets, so just didn't use the arm swaddle parts once they were able to roll. Then switched to sleep sacks after that.
