popping over from third tri with a random question....

how big were your babies and did they fit newborn clothing? Two different dr's in just over a week have commented that this critter feels "big"- now im wondering what to pack in my hospital bag. My DS was itty bitty at 5lbs 15oz and wore preemie clothing so this big baby stuff is new to me! :)

thanks!

My LO was 8lbs 7oz and fit in NB for almost a month.

Babies usually fit newborn for a good amount of time - at least a few weeks. My daughter was quite small, 6lb6oz, and fit in to newborn for almost 2 months. My son was 7lb11oz and fit newborn for about a month but both kids could have fitted in preemie size easily when very very new.

My baby was 8 lb 15 oz and newborn fitted her fine ... though I think she was mainly head lol. She grew into 0-3 pretty quickly.

My DD was 10lb 2oz and only fit into a couple of her newborn things - the ones that had 10lb as the upper weight limit. She was pretty much straight into 0-3. She was estimated on growth scans to be 8lb birthweight :haha:

Dd1 was 7lb13oz and dd2 was 7lb15oz. They were both in newborn and first size clothing for at least a month xx

My 8lb daughter wore tiny baby sized clothes for 2 weeks (she was estimated to be 6lb, so we bought tiny baby clothes). She was then in newborn clothes for 3 weeks or so before moving up to 0-3 month clothes x

Mine both happily wore newborn for at least the first 4-6 weeks. 7lbs 4oz and 7lbs 15oz. Sophie was meant to be a huge baby, she was chubby but not huge.

DS was 8lb1 and started to outgrow his newborn clothes between 4 and 6 weeks though at 11 weeks now there are still a couple of newborn items that fit. Don't worry too much about predicted size though it's not always accurate. Several growth scans predicted DS would be close to ten pounds, he was 8.1lb and long and slim!

Ds was 8lb 12oz, he was in newborn for a couple of weeks. He was really long, still is, so had to go into 0-3 in some brands.

My Los were 7lb 6 and 8lb and both fitted in newborn for the first 6 weeks xx

My DS was 5lb 8oz and only wore newborn size for around 4-5 weeks.

DD was 9lb 1oz. I was warned she would be on the big side so only bought 0-3 months.

She did have a couple of newborn things bought for her which would have fit if she wasn't so long and slim.

She's still the same now so still having the same problem!

DD - 7,12. She was in newborn until 3 months! Even at 5 now, she wears age 3-4 and mainly dresses. Long and lanky that girl.

DS - 9,01. JUST fit in to 0-3. He's now in 12months. Long and chunky this one.

8lbs 7oz. She could fit newborn but I didn't even bother and got more use out ,of 0-3

My ds was 7lbs 3oz and newborn size fit him for a few weeks because he was really long and he did go from the 45th percentile to the 100th quite quickly as well the little fatty.

I'd been told at all my appointments that he was going to be a good size, guesses were always around 10lbs so I didn't buy hardly any newborn and then I needed to go get some when he was just days old as 0-3 were way too big and it was a stressful trip and I felt so tired and disorientated. I'd buy more this time and just keep receipts and in original packaging so I could swap if not needed.

My two were 6lb 15 and 7lb 4 and surprisingly my 6lber was in them 4-6 weeks and my 7lber 8 weeks+!

My baby was estimated via u/s at 8lbs 4oz a few days before birth. I brought NB and 0-3 sizes to the hospital just in case. He was born at 8 flat and fit into NB for exactly one month (and he was a gaining very well).

One thing I have noticed is that the Gerber brand runs smaller than the other brands.

My son was 10lbs 4oz so newborn stuff was pretty pointless for us

My dd was 10lb 4oz, I had only bought nb items so has to cut the underarms in her vests so she could fit her chunky arms through them 😂, oh came the next day with 0-3 which only lasted 3 weeks, she is currently 14 weeks and has just gone into 6-9 month size! She is wide as well as long so we didn't have a chance really xxx
