Its been a bit long since Mr Thomas arrived but what with Christmas and New Year its just been so busy. Although its been nearly a month since he was born, its still as fresh in my mind as anything!

Saturday 10th Dec

I woke up as usual and didn't feel any different. I was having a few braxton hicks after me n hubby :sex: that morning but that was no different for me. I had been having braxton hicks for months so i wasn't bothered by them. We went into town to finish off Christmas shopping and to check out deals on Dsi's for my kiddies winks. :happydance: I bought a birthing ball as my due date was the 12th and i wanted to have a bit of a bounce to see if anything would happen .
At 4pm i visited my nail salon with my sister. Her birthday meal was that night so i treated her to get her nails done. I was looking forward to a nice meal n a few dances after. :happydance::haha:
7pm kiddies were dropped at the babysitters and whilst i was waiting on hubby to get back i decided to get the birthing ball out and have a bit of a bounce. Twenty mins later and he was home and we were dicussing whether he should not drink and drive there, or have a drink and we'd get the train. He decicded he didnt want to chance us being out and 45mins from home if baby should make an appearance. I had the hump as this could have possibly been the last night out for us in a while so wanted him to have a drink and relax. BUT we took the car :dohh: Just as i got up to leave i felt very 'wet' down there  so i quickly popped to the loo. It was a little bit of my plug :dohh::happydance:
Hubby was unsure if we should go or not but i said it could take forever for me to loose my plug completely and i wasn't getting contractions and didnt feel as though baby was coming tonight. So we left!!!!!!!!!

8pm we arrived at Frankie and Bennys restaurant. In the car i had started feeling a bit funny but kept quiet as i didnt want to panic hubby if it was another false alarm (i had many false starts). I ordered my meal and ate it through braxton hicks. Surprised me a bit as they were slightly stronger than what i had experienced before. Hubby went out for a smoke after and i asked my brother in law if he would walk me over to the toilet as i really didnt feel well. There i lost more of my plug :dohh:
Just as i got back to the table my plug came away completely. Ill never forget the look on my sisters friends faces (none of whom have had children :haha:) when i gasped and grabbed my stomach!
Hubby came back from having his cigarette and i told him we had to leave and it had to be now! We hadnt even ordered desserts  We found a waiter and asked for the bill and she told us she coudnt put it through becasue she hadnt waited on our table. To which my husband replied 'my wife is going into labour at your table, we NEED the bill NOW'!! Well that got us a few glances from other tables :dohh:

We left straight away for home and my sister plus friends went onto a club awaiting news of what was happening. I continued to contract all the way home

When we got home we started to get things ready. We needed to fill the pool the rest of the way (half filled already) and heat up the room where i would be giving birth. I pottered around fixing the house. Putting clean sheets on the bed and making sure i had babys bits at hand should 'this be it'. (yes i was still in denial that i was in LABOUR!). I phoned the midwife and let her know that i was having contractions about 4mins apart. They were comfortable and i told her i didnt need her here just yet. She was quite happy to let me progress until i felt i needed her here.
I decided to give my ball another go, im guessing this is what helped things earlier in the evening :dohh: :haha:

Half 11ish things turned up a notch. Not bad but just more uncomfortable so i decided to jump in the pool. Hmmmmmm the heat was amazing! And i gave the midwife a ring to say i was happy for her to pop round now.

11th December

12am When she got there she examined me and i was 4cm. OMG I WAS ACTUALLY IN LABOUR!

She asked me that when i felt the pressure change to let her know and she would give the 2nd midwife a ring as there had to be two midwives present for the actual birth.

I sat on my knees in the pool and had my head against the surround of the pool with every contraction. Not REALLY painful but i could feel things progressing. I breathed throughout and was chatting after the contraction finished. Hubby popped in and out for toilet breaks and made teas. I told the midwife to ring for the 2nd midwife as i felt different. The midwife told me it was very difficult to read me and how far into the labour i was as i wasnt making noise during contractions.

About 2am hubby popped out to the toilet and i had a huge contraction. This broke my waters. I cursed him for leaving me and i dont think he did after that :winkwink::haha:
after my waters had broke the contractions were very difficult. They were coming fast and stronng. The midwives obviously noticed a change in me and asked me to change position onto my back so they could see more easily. It was at this point the urge to bear down was to immense to resist. I pushed with all my strength and i was sure i wasnt making any progress. Every time a contraction came the praised me that it was working and to carry on. Inbtween every contraction i told them i had had enough and i didnt want to do anymore :haha: I cried and everytime i felt one coming i told hubby 'noooo no more' :haha:
It was when they told me they could see his hair that i really gave myself a 'kick in the butt'. I was so concentrating on pushing that i didnt even feel his head crown. NO 'ring of fire' or anything. It was only when hubby shouted 'omg youve done it, i can see him' that i realised :dohh:.

The contractions immediately lessened and the relief was great. I told the midwife i could feel him wriggling and it was at this point he turned round :nope: He was now facing sidewards...then 30seconds later he was face up! I started to panic as the contractions had stopped. I was talking again and the pain had gone. Only problem was (stupid body) i hadnt finished giving birth!!!!!!!!! And being that i was in water the midwives couldn't touch him in case it stimulated his breathing! It was lik an alarm was going off in my head that i had to get him out. Midwives obviously saw how distressed i was and got me to stand up to see if that would work. As soon as i was standing and i knew the midwives were ready i pushed with all my might without a contraction! :cloud9: And baby Thomas arrived sobbing along with mummy!

Daddy got to cut the cord as he wasnt able too with our girls. I sat back down in the water to keep Thomas and I warm until the placnta came. I got fidgety waiting so i stood and pushed a few times

Midwife took me to my bedroom and checked me and baby over whilst the 2nd midwife completed the notes. No stitches required  By 5am midwives had left and i was snuggled up in bed next to hubby and my new baby boy!

We collected the girls from the babysitters around 10am ish and i wish i had caught their faces on camera! It was priceless. :cloud9:

I about 30 weeks i was always two weeks behind on my tummy measurements but Thomas weighed 8lbs 1. I was surprised as i was told to expect a 6lb baby!

:happydance:So there we have it my Home Water Birth. :happydance:
