I dont know if many of you have heard about this comp on facebook, but apparently ive heard that its a scam in order for pedophiles to gain access to baby pictures.. Ive just looked it up on google and it brought me to a page insisting the claims are untrue, but i heard it was in the paper warning parents not to enter..
Has anyone else heard this? its just ive warned a few people and they have removed their entry and now ive heard the claims are fake i feel a bit guilty that they are no longer in the comp..

IMO its a bad idea anyway to have pictures of kiddies open on facebook, even as a profile pic as that is giving anyone and everyone access to the picture, but thats my opinion..

I'm pretty sure pedophiles wouldn't go to that much effort to orchestrate a scam just to access baby photos through Facebook. There are billions of photos accessible through Google and I'm guessing at least a few thousand of those are of babies - so if a pedophile really gets their kicks from random photos of fully clothed infants, surely that is much easier.

I'd be wary if it was something like a "Cutest Baby Wearing No Pants" contest, but otherwise, not something I would worry about.

My photos are private but I have had pictures of my LO set as my profile picture. I guess I don't think too deeply about perverted strangers sitting on Facebook and scrolling through millions of profiles for what are probably pretty unexciting (from a pedophile's perspective) pictures of random children. Not to be totally crass, but someone you know is way more likely to sexually abuse your child than a lurking pedophile on Facebook.

i totally see where your coming from although, dressed or not dressed i wouldnt like the thought of a pedo looking at my baby..
as i was saying to my dad yesterday.. saying that, the reality is, we probably all walk past one every single day, and who knows one might have mine or your profile pic (of your self) saved onto their comp..
one of my friends uploaded a video of her little girl dancing with no pants on (only showed behind) someone commented saying anyone could see this, her reply was 'firstly my pics and videos are private, secondly there are so many baby bums on tv for the likes of sudocrem, johnsons etc. its just life, but still i wouldnt like to put my baby out there to be looked at by a pedo.
I do feel quite guilty now for telling people about this comp and them removing them self, but i never told them to take their entry down...
But yeah there are many reasons i have my babys pics private this being one of them, my OHs sister entered her daughter into one of the fb comps and it was seen on those pages on fb that were aimed to pedod (this was true) so that does scare me enough its self, but like u say they are dressed and only their faces are seen...

Yes iv heard this and I shared the page which explained it! I think it's ridiculous anyway whether it's true or not... Everyone's babies are the cutest anyway- so what's the point in competing about it?! Xxx

I looked it up and it was "apparently" (as I don't know either way) claimed this by some one who's little one did not win, and so they sabotaged it and put out false stories, but like I said I don't know. I do agree though that I fail to see what pedo's would be looking on there for.

Yeah this is untrue and has been going as a rumour since 2010 or something silly.

Xx
