Lily started waking after 45 minutes of bed time. She goes down 6pm cause she is so exhausted then wakes 45 minutes later? Any ideas moms what I should do? she has her last nap from 2pm-3pm and won't nap again :/ until she is exhausted at 6pm!

:hugs:

Overtiredness was the reason for this happening with my LO. He was so wired it was like his brain couldn't switch off long enough.

It could be that she's not quite ready for bed at that time. My DD does the same, she has a 30-45 minute nap around 6ish, then wakes up has a play, then a bath and goes back up between 7.30 and 8.

When you say wake-up, so you mean screaming or just moaning and tossing and turning? If it is the latter you could try leaving her to self settle for 5 minutes.

Could she be too cold or too hot. 45 minutes is a sleep cycle for a baby so they go from heavy sleep to light sleep again, if something disturbs them in this light sleep before they get back in to deep sleep again then they will wake-up.

I forgot to look how old your LO is, but 4 hours is a long time to go between a nap and bed time, so it could be as the previous poster said that she is over tired, perhaps try moving her bedtime a little earlier or her nap time a little later.

Waking 45 mins after bedtime is overtiredness, my LO used to do this until I figured it out and managed to get him to take a nap in the late afternoon. Can I ask what you do to get another nap out if her?

We had this problem, I think overtiredness was the problem, but it still happens now even though we now try really hard to not let him get overtired! We made the decision to leave him 5 mins to see if he would settle himself. He never did but he wakes up after 45 mins (occasionlly) now we just have to put dummy in and hes off again. Personally I wouldnt move the bedtime later, because it does sound like overtiredness is the problem. Just be consistent and persevere

4 mth sleep regression?

poss try swaddling?

I was also going to say 4 month sleep regression. Mine does the same and when finally goes to sleep properly he inky sleeps for a maximum of 4 hours and then wakes but then is awake every 2 hours thereafter. He has been belong this for the last 8 weeks.

My LO used to do this. Every night. Without fail :dohh: I tried more naps, less naps, earlier bedtime, longer bedtime. I tried it all! Nothing worked! Then suddenly he just stopped doing it. He was around 8 months when it just stopped. I just rode it out in the end  I thought it was just him struggling to self settle after his first sleep cycle & eventually he just learned to do it himself. I posted about this many months ago & quite a few ladies whose LOs did the same & some of them said they just used to sit in their LO's room quietly after putting them down & just wait for them to stir, then just pat them & they'd go straight back over.

Could be overtiredness could you get her to have another short nap late afternoon? My LO naps from 12-2 and has an hour from 4-5. I always keep him awake from 5 for him to settle at 6.30. He is good at night but sometimes during his lunch nap he wakes. Ive read this is because they come in to light sleep after this time so any little thing could wake him. I make sure the room is dark, tighten the swaddle and offer a dummy but I never give any interaction and sssh and pat back to sleep..

Thanks so much ladies! I def agree its a combo of over tiredness and sleep regression - she also wakes every 2-3 hours at night..

i try everything to get her to nap again at 4pm or 5pm but she fights it... will just keep persevering I guess.

thank u so much for your great responses xx
