Hey xx

Our little girl was born 5 days early via emergency c section and weighed 5lbs 14oz. We got her weighed today at 4 weeks and 4 days and she's 9lbs 4oz.... Is this too much????

She doesn't seem to stop drinking and we cant leave her crying hungry :'(

It sounds like she is doing very well! You should be pleased :-). Was she having trouble gaining weight on the inside, and maybe just thriving now?

Yeah she was 1 on the percentile chart at birth. No idea why she was small but they put it down to possible issues with the placenta.

Sounds silly I'm worried over her weight gain just seems a lot lol xx

I converted those weights to kilos (pounds make no sense to me) and looks like she was just above the 5th centile at birth at 2.66kg and now she is 4.22kg. So around the 50th centile now, which is very impressive :-).

That's fantastic! I think there is no 'too much' for a newborn. Mine gained weight very quickly too. At her weigh-in after birth, she had lost only 1.5 oz and by day 10 had gained almost a pound. I was (still am) breastfeeding, so I was so chuffed and proud. But I seriously panicked when her gain naturally started to slow down lol. She started on 91st centile but by 6 months, she started following the 50th and is still there now.

It's wonderful to see your baby growing and thriving. They grow inordinately quickly for the first couple of months ... I say feed her if she's hungry and just enjoy her.

I think a pound a week is pretty normal for a newborn, so I doubt you have anything to worry about!
