Hi guys,

My daughter is 9.5 months old. She has not have much appetite in any period of her life, moreover she lost all of her desire to any kind of food nowadays.
Previously my wife used tv commercials in order to distract her attention and give her food. But she has not been able to do this for a week. She definitely closes her mouth and changes head direction to refuse the spoon. We are really in a difficult situation. In the weekend, after those nervous feeding sessions, we learn that she has an urine system infection, which may cause such a lack of appetite. However it is really very ridiculous and annoying to see a baby that has not eaten anything for even 15 hours! My wife is really depressed since she is not able to feed her. She called me now and said that she has not eaten anything - even with commercials - from the beginning of the day. How can we solve this issue? We really need some help and to read some success stories from the parents which they had same issues but solved them after. We really very much appreciate your effort.

Thats a hard one, what a worry for u and your wife. Is she having any milk at all? have u tried baby led weaning instead of using a spoon, where she can pick at things, maybe u could have food accesible to her when she is playing etc and she can pick at it when she wants to?

Sounds like my LO when i started to wean her, she was always quite difficult to feed but then one day refused everything off of the spoon, but give her something to hold and she'd eat it, so we changed to BLW and its going so well if i try and put something in her mouth now she will literally stop my hand and pick whatever food out of my hand instead. Might be worth giving a try :)

Thank you very much for your replies. We also try BLW method as well, but what she does is just play with the pieces of food (via holding and crushing) and then throw them to the ground :( She is really very extraordinary baby I think. We cannot understand how she stands while eating nothing.

She will get the hang of it :hugs: is she gaining weight ok ? does she take much milk? I can understand how frustrating it can be for you and your wife as Alyssa can be a terrible eater. It will get better
