Baby WON'T SLEEP please help :-(

heya hun, may just be a phase due to teething? have you tried remedies for that? for a 10mnth old a rough guide is 2 naps during the day for total 3 hrs, so roughly two 1.5hr naps daily. so that would mean your LO cant stay awake longer than 2-3 hrs without needing a nap during day time, so may be overtiredness.... I know my LO is alot younger but I know he cant stay awake longer than 1.5hrs without getting overtired and fighting his sleep, maybe try putting down for a nap at first signs of tiredness, eye rubbing, yawning from between 2-3 hrs no longer than, and try various tactics, white noise, soother etc and just persevere and just keep saying to yourself, LO will have to fall asleep soon, maybe if that works even though it may take a while LO would realise naps are good again... Also I find when LOs nap well during the day that relaxation follows through for a good night. I know, its all trial and error! x

The only difference I can see between a 7mnth old and 10mnth old is a 10mnth old can stay awake for a bit longer between naps and may only need 2 naps rather than 3 naps per day...sometimes as they get older the routine just needs tweaking a bit.

Oh no, I know how you feel!! I used to have a hard time getting LO to nap during the day then if naps were crap bedtime was always crap, then I would always get pissed off cos there was no one to take over for 10 mins to have a break from it!

At around 9 months LO would only have 1 nap in the morning then wouldn't go down for her afternoon nap and get cranky at like 4/5ish to go sleep, but it was too late for a nap and too early for bed so I moved her naptimes around so she would only have 1 straight after lunch and she would sleep for around an hour and half, then would go to bed fine at 6.

I wouldn't go by how much they 'should' nap because every baby is different, it's whats right for you and your routine. Try different nap times, and bedtimes and you'll soon find a way to crack it

Oh hunny I'm sorry you're having a hard time at the moment.

With my son when I became single I had to change my attitude a little. I just felt like something had to give and I became a bit stricter at bedtime.

I would purposely not be all smiley and attentive near bedtime so baby doesn't think it's playtime. If he woke up and cried (at this kind of age not tiny baby age) I would go in, completely straight faced - no eye contact, lay him down and either leave or stay there til he quietens down then leave - no talking.

I also tried to get him out of the stage of going to bed with a bottle too I felt it was important for him to self sooth.

But every mother's ideas are different and some people would never be as harsh as I was and some would be even worse than me and let him cry to sleep.

Can't remember how long it took to get baby down to sleep, I think sometimes 20-30 minutes. But I had PLENTY of nights from hell believe me.

Luckily a distant memory now but I've got it all to come again soon.

:hugs: You've got to find a way to talk to your ex hun :hugs: He sounds like he's being pretty selfish x

Yeah if he can't talk to you it isn't fair he can take the LO overnight. Or maybe that's just me. I can't stand how they mess up our routines they're so selfish.
